Hello good people

This is my first post so here’s wishing for beginner’s luck.

Below are the lyrics for a song in search of some critical feedback, pulsating music, a superstar singer, world wide sales, and a Grammy but I’ll settle for any helpful advice you can spare.

It is a song about me/us  and Donald Trump.

There is one word in the second line which might be viewed as offensive and the third of four letters has been replaced by an asterisk as follows: sh*t.

So here goes.

American Apples

He’s got a White House but he don’t like it.
He’s got a tax return but we don’t see sh*t.
And he’s got a foundation that don’t make donations
He’s forgotten the forgotten; and there’s more
He’s got friends in cyberspace, bribes in a briefcase,
hustlers in the workplace, opponents on a database.
And there’s more; he ain’t got class.

Chorus
And when he goes high
about the size
of his ratings, his assets, his brain,
his vocabulary, his  hands ..
Well we  know better and we go low.

Me, I’ve got a mortgage and I choose
To pay my taxes, pay my dues.
And, when I get good fortune, I give back a portion
He says a winner takes all, but  we losers  have more.
We got decency, morality, honesty, civility,
Fidelity, propriety, humanity, humility.
And there’s more; we got class.

Chorus

He don’t get climate change, don’t get diversity,
Don’t get fallibility, had his own university. (not)
And he don’t read books save for chapter eleven.
He  don’t get the don’ts  ‘n’  the don’t knows, and there’s more.
He’s got movies in the bookcase, orange on a paleface,
buds in the master race, tweets in the upper case.
And there’s more; he ain’t got class.

Chorus

Me, I’ve got a future, and I don’t refuse
to believe in science, and then I choose.
And, I believe in uncertainty guarding our liberty.
He says he has all the answers, but we “don’t knows “ want  more.
We want sanity, integrity, reality, veracity,
Rationality, causality, total factuality.
And there’s more; we  want class

Chorus

How do you like them apples, Donald?

Thank you, your encouragement is very much appreciated.

The main problem I've got with the song is that I can't get past "Ol Man River" in my head as the tune. If anybody has any simple techniques for an absolute layperson to generate a tune then please let me know.

Having said that if it were that easy, everybody would be a songsmith.

Over the next few weeks i'm going to trawl through all the threads and try to absorb / get inspired from the work of others.

   Hello,

Welcome to the forum. I have to say the "Ol man river" tune never occured to me until you mentioned it. As far as first posts go, this is the best i've come across in a while. I can't think of any ways of improving this, it's just dandy the way it sits. From first to last, just quality.

Hope there's more (excuse the pun)
