Title: Landlord
Post by: Soul Punk on November 16, 2012, 08:27:01 PM
very biographical
mostly fact rather than my usual twisted fiction

enjoy

Landlord

Saturday mornings, nice and bright
my mum and I went to see the old man
me and my papa watching tv laughing around
before we walked back home to life
your father's nightshift, don't make a sound

Things I used to hate, I love now
Bills, heartbreak and the landlord
just keeps on running me down
I had love, didn't need to afford it
take me back to before I grew up

When I was fifteen, I got my first job
being spit on and robbed on milk rounds
I carried on because the money was cool to me
Couldn't afford silk, watches, cocaine or finery
but with my pride I was the richest kid in town

Things I used to hate, I love now
Bills, heartbreak and the landlord
just keeps on running me down
I had love, didn't need to afford it
take me back to before I grew up

Doctor, Doctor give me an excuse
becomes the war cry of the bone idle
for a change the system must feel abused
I've got weak points, whiskey bottles and tattoos
at least I'm not singing along benefit fraud blues

Things I used to hate, I love now
Bills, heartbreak and the landlord
just keeps on running me down
I had love, didn't need to afford it
take me back to before I grew up
