A very Happy New Year to everybody out there in Forumland. Let's hope it's a good year for all. I'm sure we've all got a lot of musical treats to come.

I've given the guitars a rest on this one which is a piano ballad. I've had bits of this song hanging around for a while but I managed to pull it together over the last couple of weeks. My keyboard playing is still poor but I have been practicing  :)

It's a simple love song, not much more to say really  :)

Carry The Love

Carry the love
Far from above
Carry and tell me what's mine
Let me believe
What I can see
Can't have you waving goodbye

Carry the love over rough stony ground
Carry it up to the sky
Never believe what the people might say
Don't let them wave you goodbye

Carry the love
It might be tough
Hold onto love every day
Hold on be strong
It won't be long
We'll be together each day

Carry the love, every day, every night
Carry it, keep it in mind
Maybe one day when we're both far away
Love is a treasure to find

Simple is usually the best mate!!! a fine ballad, harmonies (or double vocal)on the chorus would've been good and the vocal is a bit pitchy...no excuses John! :) just sing it until you've got it right 8) :)
why let a lovely song down?

best to for the coming year mate :) :)

That's what I wanted to hear.
Great way to start the year, John.
Bold and simple, 4.5 minutes and never a dull moment.

Just let the ending trail out a bit, some space to reflect.
Incredible song.

Well done, and thank you.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

The appeal of this for me is the fag-smoked pompeyjazz vocal melded with the gentle ballad style of the song...and a good well thought out melody here too.

I followed that with interest 2nd time round...wasn't thinking about it first time. I didn't notice any pitchy bits if they were there either time.....wasn't listening for that either!

Might have been tempted to really go big with this towards the end maybe and really let go with the vocal?
Take it easy.

You can check my stuff out here. Mini-album getting bigger slowly. Free download if you're poorer than me.

Some lovely touches here - that step down in the final line of the verse sounds great. Impressed with the piano if it's not your usual thing. The addition of new parts to the backing works well I think. I might have tried to avoid breaking up the words waving, treasure etc but that's just a small nit.

Yeah, ballads man,  respect is due, they aint easy to do well. This was an old style ballad and you hacked it.  I dont know many guys who like 'em, but you gotta do 'em for the ladies. Fact: Ladies love ballads.
So can we extrapolate this to: Ladies love guys who do ballads?  I think so.
The piano sounded like one from a bar /pub, and  the whole thing had a  live feel.
Yeah your female fanbase demographic has almost certainly ballooned in the female drinkers segment.

I'm getting a 'song not found' message on Soundcloud PJ... have you taken the track down?
It's all too beautiful.

Soundcloud seems to have recovered.
Well what a lovely track John.  Some great vibrato in your voice and I like that delicate little piano motif it opens with and that you repeat a couple of times.  I almost want to go and buy a lighter so I can wave it in the air when this is playing.  Good contrast to your rockers.
It's all too beautiful.

Yeah...I tried earlier but couldn't get to hear it...

Lovely sweet heartfelt ballad...with loads of emotion...very nicely done.

Neat piano playing too...mind you don't set fire to yer hat by getting too close to that candelabra  :)

Bleedin' hell - you have one hell of a voice - perfect for this which reminded me of the great Harry Nilsson.
It's a simply lovely song and although you are pitchy in places, the quality of your tone carries you through (excuse the pun!).

What more can I say?

A masterpiece

WOW< John :o I would never have expected a love ballad like this from you :-* Most of the tracks I've heard of yours are so 'not' love ballads, but this is really beautiful :-* it's almost got a John Lennon vibe
I love your voice in this..it's kind of fragile, which is perfect for this genre :)
The melody is gorgeous and I'm impressed by your piano playing :o
My only nit would be that it cuts off too abruptly at the end ???

Funny, but I've been working on a piano love ballad myself :)

Maybe it's time for a Valentines love song comp :-*

Really different from your normal stuff PJ.
Very accomplished and moving...as mentioned by others... a john lennon inspired classic.
