Hello, looking for feedback on one of my "shower songs" that popped into my head while taking a shower just this morning and came fully together in a couple of hours. Not perfected yet, but feel like there's something there.
Miss Billy the Kid
I know that the choirs are singing
And the music's as loud as it's been
But I'm not the person that you've met before
And there's nothing I can do but sin
I used to write songs with my Mary
And laugh at the rest of the world
We said one of these days we'll get married
But today my sweet Mary is gone
We used to play games that she liked to play
Although we both knew that she ain't gonna stay
But just for that moment
The bluebird was singing
She got on her horse and got on her way
Miss Billy the Kid had gotten away
My heart in her pocket, a smile on her face
What is she up to, I wonder today
I heard she's been seen on the west mountain slopes
The Queen of Montana that nobody knows
I know that's she's happy, she's fine on her own
I just wish that once more I could call her my own
Like I did when we played the games she liked to play
Although we both knew, she ain't gonna stay
But just for a while
The bluebird kept singing
Now I still spend my time by that old country road
The tracks of her horse have already gone
But there's nothing I can do but mourn every day
My miss Billy the Kid had gotten away
Played this on my guitar,
The chords for now are
C E7 Am
F Dm for the verses
F E Am Dm for the "chorus" part
