Hi
Firstly sorry I've not been around reviewing much.  Work has all gone a bit mental, I'm spending my evenings on email while my Tele is collecting dust, and like a few others I probably can't be as active here for a while as I'd like to be.
I wanted to post this though, a track Pompey Jazz helped me with a few weeks ago. I really like what PJ added to my very scratchy demo, especially his BVs and some 60s guitar flourishes.  Anyway it's a summery chirpy-chappy type thing about the joy of sitting out in the sun doing very little (so those of us enjoying the current UK heatwave might agree it seems a good day to post it).
Love 'n respeck guys, & see you in a bit.
Pauly

Tiny Pleasures

Collecting my thoughts.  They don't weight a tonne.
In fact they're all quite lightweight so how come they are still a burden?
Those who have no regrets - were they even trying?
I'd like to say I felt the same but we both know I'd still be lying here
Beneath the pebbledash, the Council cut the grass
And the whole town smells so tropical.  Who needs to travel?  All I ask is

Tiny pleasures, under the weather
Can't see the wood but the trees still please me
Everyday treasures

If I had a time machine I would use it now
I'd take us to Monterey, syphon off some flower power but
You cannot bottle the spirit of ages
We're going to have to brew our own and find our own flavour
Though the neighbours' kids are looking at me through the fence
I may not have moved for some time, but I'm quite content, just give me

Tiny pleasures, under the weather
Desperate measures are at your leisure but
You can keep the pressure

For there is no better shade than the inside of your eyelids
Against the sun on a summer Monday when you've hit the skids
And there is no better sound than the traffic bulletin
Of jams along the motorways once you've stopped commuting
Best enjoy the swings and roundabouts on the slide into obscurity

Tiny pleasures, under the weather
Can't see the wood but the trees still please me
Tiny pleasures, tiny pleasures,
Tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny pleasures.
It's all too beautiful.

Yo Pauly and pomps.

This is a little cracker of a song, deserving a million plays.

Remember when Syd was punting out classic pop before he crashed and burned? Well this tickles my ears in the same way. Memorable and a wonderful up song. The lyrics are pure class.

Well done you two and thanks for sharing.  8)

Great stuff guys, I love the simple yet clever lyrics, and the vocals remind me a bit of Steve Marriot doing his chirpy cockney style, great track all round, especially with a sprinkling of Pompey magic to add the sparkle.

Cheers, Mikey

Hey man the more I hear of your voice the more I like it. And yeah mate I agree the guitar parts really add to the song and give it a really nice uplifting feeling and the vocal harmonies just add to this. The chorus works really well for this song man. The production is great, love a lot of the synthy sounds and organ. Good job lads.

Lots to like here.
I'm hearing influences from every decade since the 60's in this.  ;D ;D
Good hook (well placed and respected!  :D)
I liked the lyrics, but TBH with the different metering between verses, I won't be humming the verses all night. However the chorus is (as required) catchy as all hell and redeemed things for me every time it popped up.
Solid production too.
Good collab IMHO  :D

The guitar reminds me a bit of The Fratellis style wise, which is no bad thing as I think they are great. There's an underlying energy to that  choppy rhythm guitar that carries the track well. Bit of a Madness influence there too maybe, esp in the bridge and chorus - the latter of which is catchy and very kind of eccentrically British. Well I don't think you hear these kind of songs anywhere else in the world.

A very well crafted song and I enjoyed the production too, very full yet skillfully clear where it mattered.  ;)
My latest novel: pls check it out!

‘Gavin & The Bodysnatchers’, a quirky comedy crime thriller. Easily found on Amazon.

Excellent collaboration guys.

Production is good and love those backing vocals too.

Clever lyrics and I like the pace of the song....definitely foot tappin'

The tune reminds me of Park Life, it has a real cheekiness about it.

A great listen.

Ha!! "Tiny pleasures!!" My wife's been singing this chorus for years now!!! ;D ;D

Great collab chaps!! Very summery, with a very "Madness..esque" vocal! Loved it!
