My latest attempt at anthemic, indie, acoustic rock ;-) Message of the lyrics? A muso down on his luck, wasn't after fame and fortune but was seeking the mythical, unattainable, lost chord, redemption is there though because he's a good guy and his words can always wipe away his woman's tears.

I thought that my job was for life, thought it was all set in stone
Working hard for a working wage, not work my fingers to the bone
Living day after day, yeah, with a future that's told
I wasn't chasing the big time, I wasn't chasing the gold
You don't get what you pray for, no not ever in this life
You don't even get what you pay for, well the money's just too tight
But, there's everything left to play for, when the prize is in plain sight
When the words you spill, are the words that kill the pain that's in her eyes
I'm on a mission to find it, the lost chord to that song
Well, the melody can never hide it, the harmony is just too strong
I wasn't chasing the chorus line, was hoping you'd belong
'Cause tuning up was never enough, you have to sing along, sing along!
I don't get what you pray for, no not ever in this life
I don't even get what you pay for, well the money's just too tight
But, there's everything left to play for, when the prize is in plain sight
When the words you spill, are the words that kill the pain that's in her eyes
When the words you spill, are the words that kill the pain that's in her eyes
Vocals, guitar and bass by yours truly, recorded at "ScienceBASS Studios" - my home office ;-)
