@Nick Ryder The logic stem splitter does look pretty fabulous. One of my mates is working to remix a demo that we originally recorded in 1979 so pretty excited to hear the results of that.

Hi all.

I posted this song before as a work in progress, but I feel its as close as its going to be to a finished song now. I think it just needs mastering. I was lucky to get a real drummer and saxophone on this too which has made a real difference.

Like most of my song, it is written about someone I know.

When all the lights go out you’re falling, falling
And you are drifting in a dark dark place

When fire burns so bright the heat burns your eyes
You disappear without a trace

And when religion fails you
And when the church bells toll
And you have nowhere else to turn, at, all

When you deceive yourself and pray for recompense
Its just a mirror and it makes, no sense

And when the well is dry,
And when the flowers die
And when you’re putting up your best, defence

This is not a test,
This is not a game my son
This not a practise run
And while you’re having fun……

This is not a film
This is now reality
And this is how it’s meant to be
You’re not the only one who feels this

Don’t ignore the ones who love you
Don’t betray the ones who care
The one’s you need the most, are the one’s you should keep close
They’re the ones who always will be there

Don’t forget just who you are
You’re a diamond in the rough, a brilliant rising star
Don’t give up on what you want
I’m begging of you please so I’m telling you  in this song…….

Just an update on this as I installed the update on Tuesday.

The Stem Splitter feature is excellent. I loaded in an old mp3 of a mix we did back in the 90's (the masters are long since lost) and ran it through the Stem splitter.

I ended up with 4 stereo stems:

Drums
Bass
Vocals
Everything else

The separation is pretty mind blowing and it allowed me to add EQ and compression to each. I've now managed to remix the songs to a much higher standard than before!!

The Virtual bass and keyboard players are pretty good too. You can get a decent part out of them and then convert to MIDI for fine tuning.

Oh man we don't want to go on religion and how it works on biz , Who knows Rightly
Mumble mouth in a Nashville term , on lousy diction , I'm very conscience now in studios
If you sing like Whitney Houston but diction sucks , Ya got fix that , Producers come in handy on all that
Jesus love you and God , lets leave it at that , I have no idea on the rest
I think apple computers are better , You don't get all that bullshit on ads politics ect ect
Maybe later , then you got transfer and all that . I could carless what the worlds doing , music wife and fishing

I love you guys! @PaulAds @pompeyjazz @Nick Ryder

Some things are improving. My arm is making progress. I'm still in the sling, but I can play guitar again now. Even in that short time, my calluses are somewhat diminished, so I felt it in my fingertips after about half an hour, maybe less.

I didn't mention a more long-term problem I'm having--my left hip is having problems. The hip itself is fine, but the sciatic nerve running through it is being pinched so most moving around is quite painful.

I'm going to physical therapy for both my arm and my hip. My arm is responding well, my hip not so much...but some. I shouldn't complain. Lots of people have it worse than I do.

Anyway, I need to get back to music. I am singing in a 120+ voice choir for a Bahá'í Choral Festival in Wilmette (north of Chicago) at the end of May and I haven't learned the music at all yet. We aren't allowed to use music, so that will be interesting. I better get back to reviewing my part.

Which reminds me that I will be singing in a ~400-voice choir in Carnegie Hall at the beginning of December (the 2nd, I think). Handel's Messiah. The Christmas section, I presume. I don't have the music yet.

Buddhist ? Probably so Rightly . I don't know how they deal in business. Different mindset I guess
Probably like Christians , They have their religion , But secular business is doggy dog and goal driven either religions
That's a bit deep before 9am
As far as music I can't sing like Nashville artists and their phrasing , But it'll work for a artist song and promotion
Atomas mix and stereo mix, I'm not sure if I hear a difference
thanks

In business, yes, they're woolly headed,
 like mediocre or "Liberal" Christians.
Its hard to imagine more devout Buddhists running a competitive business.

I've been checking out the band
The national, lately
Musically great, but the vocalist is a mumbler.
Good lyrics but I don't want to Have to read the printed lyrics.
You've a strong accent but I've no problem understanding the lyrics.

Remember the dylan song
To make you feel my love ?
The original is the best
And amongst the covers Adele's isn't enjoyable for me.
Her vocal performance is technically good, but for me it lacks authenticity, intimacy.
Getting the voice right can be tricky, a schooled voice is often forgettable.

I think my favourite version of hallelujah
Is by John cale. Followed by the original.

Feedback on Finished songs / Re: The Laughter

I like this
creepy lyrics. They fire up my imagination

I've never heard my own laughter
Too in it to take note
an elemental aspect of living, living as opposed to surviving

I remember reading Jesus' life stories as a kid
Sometimes, there was a born again Christian within spitting distance (Evil laugh)
I remember asking if he'd ever come across a JC story where he was actually, intentionally funny
With unusual sobriety the born again said something to the tune of "nothing ages faster than humour"

I've heard Dylan capture humour (at least for me) in a song
With his persona there's a whole lot of setting the context.

It's rare we get humour in a song.

Songwriters will go to any length to give us something to cry about.
just saying

Hey, Great song!

I have reread your comment, in the process I give a boost to this song that I like so much and that has aroused so little interest, apart from yours and that of @Elvis Nash
Humor is a natural measurer of emotional intelligence, that's what I think, I'm not intelligent but I am very emotional and quite tragic, I could have been the protagonist of a historical Greek drama!
Every time I listen to the song and hear the laughter that I have put next to mine, I laugh a lot, there is something contagious about it and I love that.
You say you've never heard your recorded laughter? It's just as surprising as when you hear your voice for the first time... but has a special difference, I think laughter depicts many things about oneself.
