Hello blood filled, tasty listeners!

This competition was the perfect opportunity to dig out an old happy little ditty of mine. I wrote this 137 years ago, shortly after... well, I shouldn't talk about that on a public forum I guess.  ;)

So now I had a go in recording this with all those new technical gizmos and whatnot.

And if you dare doubt that I fullfill all of the competition rules you may come visit me at next full moon and check it out for yourself, bwahahahaha....

Night

Lyrics:

out of a cold and a dark place
I'll come running to you
from where you can't see your own face
I am following you

'cause when we touch I feel the light of the morning
and when we meet I feel the warmth of July
and when I see you I hear a distant calling
that means the end so I go back to die

when I lie in my grave over day
don't you feel I'm dreaming of you
when I cross by the moon in the nighttime
I wish that I never knew

about the power of the night and the darkness
that made me leave you alone in the day
although I'm dead I will never be heartless
as long as you're there to make me stay

don't be afraid when I touch you
don't run away when I talk
I just want to take you with me
for a wonderful walk

come on follow my darling
I will show you the night
I know it's strange and uncommon
but there's no reason for fright

Whoop! Another entry! I have added it to the list.

This has an awesome foreboding feel to it, with the menacing "thunking" piano. The line although I'm dead I will never be heartless hit me just right.

I might be taking it wrong, but I would change the line when I lie in my grave over day to when I lie in my grave through the day.

Otherwise no nits from me.

Sinister pianos to start off....definitely spooky.

Great lyrics....go on tell us more behind the story.

Dark vocals add to the spookiness.

Definitely has a goth heart.

Grand stuff, Wolfini! Love the piano. This is creepy and I can feel the hairs on my neck rising... what's that behind me?

PS Super melody, too!

Are you from Transylvania?   Count Wolfini the bass playing vampire aristocrat?
You bit my grandmother in 1934!
well you have a spooky voice & I liked the lyric tho i felt it was a lot creepier than the music itself..maybe you should have put a lot of reverb & echo on it all to create a more frightening effect?...
anyway I still realy liked the song.....very spooky!

I was hiding behind shadowfax behind the sofa  ;D
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Nice one Wolfi.
My favourite bit was rhyming "darling" with "uncommon"
Another fine entry for the comp - best of luck!

Thanks for all your comments, puny human beings!

@Vicki: good suggestion on the lyrics! Definitely better than what i used!

@Sandeep: sorry, if i told you more i would have to eat you.

@tinam: hm, yes, I thought about some vocal fx, maybe I will give it a try.

@Paulski: I did not really think of that as a rhyme, but if it works for you even better!

Hi Wolfini,

This sounds like it belongs as the sound like a soundtrack to an old black and white silent horror movie. Nosferatu singing a love song.
Loved the piano work.
Spooky and very cool.

Hey Wolifini!

Love the track...the lyrics make me want to hide behind the sofa the other forumites are behind. Really great piano on this and a deadpan vox delivery that reminds me of Hammer Horror! Good luck in the comp!

Thanks Digger and Martyn!

I could not play piano like that through a whole song without messing up, but midi is my friend. ;-)

Dang! Another one I've missed!

I really like the idea behind the lyric. If I've got it right; in the same way that a living person might get chills by coming into contact with a spirit, a spirit might feel the opposite?

Pretty spooky feel all the way through. A great contender

This is great Wolfi. You have a head start as you have the scariest name on the forum. I can just imagine you playing this on an ivory tobacco stained grand piano with two giant candelabras on either side, the melting wax dripping onto the keys. Anyway, I loved this. Clever arrangement and dynamics. What was the picture about mushrooms about though? 😈
