Hi - as I'm new to this game could some kind soul explain how I can upload my songs to the internet please?  I've created a SoundCloud account but it's currently empty.  I have an audio CD with four tracks on it (.cda files).  I presume I have to somehow convert these to the appropriate file format so that they can be uploaded.  However, each file is only 44 bytes each, so they can't possibly contain the actual audio.  What do I have to do next?

Hi Guy

The easiest way for non-technical folks to do this would be to 'import' the music from your CD via a program such as itunes or windows media player. It will take the audio information and turn it into an mp3 or wav file (depending on your settings) - which you can then upload to soundcloud.

Hope that helps :)

Well I've got Windows Media Player, and I've picked the "rip CD" option.  The four tracks are showing up marked "ripped to library", but I'm still not sure how to access them or what format they're in.

You have done the right thing ripping the CD

You will need to check in Windows Media Player settings to find out where it has ripped the files to

This should get you on the right trail:

On your computer, the files are located in the folder in your Music library specified on the Rip Music tab of the Options dialog box.

Once you find the files you can upload them to Soundcloud

After a great deal of searching, I've found them!  Thanks.  They're in .wma format, which I think I can upload to Soundcloud.  Let's have a go.

EDIT: Done it!  Thanks ever so much to both of you.  One down, three to go...
