Hello forumites, how's things?
I figured this one out the other night, the last part is a verse from an ocean colour scene song called 'village life' I pretty much ripped off the whole melody from that song so I thought why not just own up to it
One hundred years ago
By the village pond
Life just carries on and on
Was an empty gravel road
Now juggernaughts with heavy loads
Past the Tudor house, the first
To Lego boxes, many curse
In the field across the road
Where the wildlife did roam
One hundred years ago
You really wouldn't want the winter snow
Life so cold and dark and slow
Just a horse and cart to go
a hundred years ago
Tarmac lane and river bridge
'twas just a ford a muddy ditch
'Til circa nineteen sixty three
A forgotten history
On photographs a village store
No longer there not any more
Just a car park and some flats
How did it come to that?
One hundred years ago
You really wouldn't want the winter snow
Life so cold and dark and slow
Just a working boat to go
a hundred years ago
All in one of our life's time
How will it be-by the end of mine?
Can it really change that much?
The village keeps on growing up
Here we are like people then
Same where but different when
And the traffic flashes by
As indeed do you and I...
