Here's the musical version of 42 days, that I posted in the lyrics section a few days ago :) It's a personal story, that I started writing 7 years ago when I was at a low point in my life drinking way too much and way too often and doing a lot of things I shouldn't have done. At the time I wrote the lyrics it was 42 days since the last time I had a drink :)
Lyrics:
Verse 1
A bottle of whiskey was my only friend
A world that's spinning, will it ever end
I painted a picture, told only lies
For family and friend who thought I was doing just fine
Chorus
It's been 42 nights still counting them
Since I had a drink and went home numb
I've been sober, put down the bottle, said it was over then
It's been 42 days
42 days
It's been 42 days still counting them
Verse 2
I’ve been delusional living a life in denial
Looking back at a life always lying
For each step I take, I’ve been on trial
Always failing, yeah I’ve been down that line
Chorus
It's been 42 nights still counting them
Since I had a drink and went home numb
I've been sober, put down the bottle, said it was over then
It's been 42 days
42 days
It's been 42 days still counting them
Bridge
I wish I could go home
I'm scared i'll be left alone
To myself, with my thoughts, in my head
Screaming, and shouting, can't get out of bed
Chorus
It's been 42 nights still counting them
Since I had a drink and went home numb
I've been sober, put down the bottle, said it was over then
It's been 42 nights
42 days
It's been 42 days still counting them
Outro
It’s been 42 days
42 days
It’s been 42 days still counting them

Morning @Younger Hills (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22101) - this a cracker, it’s a very personal piece and one can here it in your voice and delivery.
The guitar sound is perfect, voice perfect. I would look at the lyrics and how they fit the rhythm, there’s a bit of conflict between them sometimes.
Other than that is a gripping tale, told in different ways over the years by many artists...
Hope you’re clean now
All the best
Rich

@RealKevM (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21324) - Cheers mate! 😁🤟
@cowparsleyman (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21308) - thanks Rich, appreciate it 🤟 Yeah, some words dont hang quite as I want them too, also, was a second late on the last line in Verse 2 cause I forgot the words 🤪🙈 7 years after and still clean. Do drink occasionally, but can go months between each time, instead of hours 😁

I think you have a nice voice, but I'm not able to connect to the melody. I'm not sure if this is just me not getting your style, or that it's not very melodic? Totally possible it's me. Haha. But I appreciate the lyrics and emotion. Congrats on 42 days!

Thanks, @redrhodie (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21171) :) It might be me being not very melodic :p 42 days felt like a lifetime way back then, but now 7 years later is a memory of me getting through a tough time and getting stronger :)
