Thanks for brilliant feedback

the power chords at around 2 o'clock in the mix should have been left out for at least one of the verses because it loses it's power for me anyway..

I've removed the chords from half of the verse - Good tip - Thanks

Could turn it onto a Football Song?

I sent it to CCFC - Said it could be a promotion song  :)

MM - Thanks for the compliments  :)

JohnLondon - Ah ! heady days indeed. Of course at the time I was playing the whole 2-Tone Explosion was just happening - There was quite an incredible music scene locally, a very vibrant Reggae scene and Punk / New Wave. The 2 just morphed together

Mondobongo - What can I say, I am blown away - Many Thanks

Jason - What an amazing review

DevyE - Still don't understand the Tartan Look references  ??? - Appreciate what you are saying regarding the language. Maybe I've turned into a hippy  ;)

Doodles - I know exactly what you mean - lagered up !

Off to listen and review some new stuff on here now

Thanks All

John

Not a song but a whole attitude...

At the end you could go back for a reprise of verse one (it's the theme of the song) - or get stuck into another epic guitar solo to fade (shows that the narrator is still rocking and won't be stopped).

One teeny thing - I'd say "politics and govenment lies" to scan better...

Good times (I am far too young to get any of the references of course  ;))

Thanks stc and Adam. Like the idea of the refrain. Maybe a chant tailing away.... Ooh no that's so Sham 69  ;D

Enjoyed it, got that that pub rock punky vibe. Like the vocals guitars to the fore, perhaps a tad more bass to drive it underneath? Liked the change in drum patten in the middle. Only suggestion is it's nearly 4 mins long, not sure that be allowed back then?  :D
Interesting I could hear echos of Manics And the Vaccines..
Anyway good work.

Thanks Neil yes of course. Over 4 mins was a sin at that time 😊  Remember doing a gig when we crammed 15 songs into a one hour set and I'm still recovering now  :)

Hi John

The opening guitar lines (and at 0.50, 2.40 etc) are nice...remind me of something in their style rather than the actual notes...nice. I kinda get the feeling that maybe there are some melodic references to something that I can't pin down, maybe not....

Good rockin' tune...sounds great. The solo at 1.50 hits the spot..not quite sure about the bit just before.....

The vocal is great...

Yeah, maybe a tad long to sustain the energy level....I can talk!

Not a Pompey fan then?
Take it easy.

You can check my stuff out here. Mini-album getting bigger slowly. Free download if you're poorer than me.

Hi, a very good song of its type. Good vocal sound. I could hear Eddie and the hot rods and manics sounds which is all good. Nice guitar sounds too.
Nice one!
Cheers

Hi John,

Great, exuberant energy.
I like the fizzy drive to the song.
Quite raw but with just enough polish.

Retro, but still has enough references with some more recent indie type bands.

Nice one,
Digger

I enjoyed this - think it captured the excitement of being in a band back in the day.
I kind of wanted more string bending but maybe that wasn't done - so far back my feeble mind can't recall :)

Fun rocker!

Totally agree with many of the comments, brings back brilliant memories of turning up to venues, and playing gigs in dives, or to very few 'fans'

Great memories, captured well as a song. The bluesy feel is good, and I think this could do well if recorded by a real band - definitely something to look into. Although from other posts you've said you're in 'churn mode' at the moment, so maybe just let the inspiration keep flowing; you can always take these on the road later!

Thanks everyone for all your comments. Just wanted to capture a moment in time. Actually managed to see one of my major influences last week. The Ruts. And believe me. Pogoing is not a good idea at my age :)

I liked it. Good sound and clash-like.
I'll have to check your other posts!
I recently bought an expensive electric guitar and I'm wondering if I'll ever get to play it like an electric.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.
