Well thanks, people!  Other than the hook line (which I'd been dragging around for a few days prior) this tune was written in less than an hour the night before New Orleans got whacked that morning in August, 2005.  Sometimes things just fall into place quickly and there's nothing more required.

Thanks for listening!

Oh and Tina, yes the strings are more than a month old......maybe two months.  I much prefer the thumpy, dry sound of a set of strings that have lost all of their "zip".  These won't be changed unless and until the guitar won't hold a tune any longer.......that's the trigger for a change.  From what I've been able to determine this is an acquired taste in tone, as most players change strings frighteningly often.

Had to listen to this again.
Beautiful, stunning song. Great performance!

That must be an expensive microphone.

Well done Buc!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

At last Buc - I managed to get You Tube working. Sorry for the delay in reviewing this song.

Love the simpicity and feeling that go into this song. Lovely melody and arrangement and love your gravelly vocals.

Good stuff

Buc,
Classy songwriting, really like the chorus, which has an uplifting feel to it ( and it resolved really well) in spite of the subject.
All done with your consummate, easy going rootsy guitar and vocals.
Sounds effortless

Enjoying this one a lot. Beautifully played and sung. I feel I have to admit to not being a big fan of docu-folk (?) so, after reading your introductory statement, I approached this with a little trepidation but found it to be a delight. The lyric is a work of art. Full of imagery and wonderfully concise. I love the colloquial feel of the line 'Even ol' mister Johnson say it's the baddest storm he ever seen'

A little gem and I love it.

Well thank you, one and all!  This one seems to go over pretty well then, huh.  I do like the lyric myself but I think my vocal on this kinda sucks..........what do I know.

RIGHTLY:  The mic is a Blue Yeti, rather inexpensive USB desktop microphone.  Maybe $120 USD.  Had it a few years now and it works well for live guitar & vocal into the computer.  Simple things work best for me.

Hello!

I get some really nice vibes from this song. Very mellow feeling. I really have nothing I could critic about it, I just really like everything about it!

Your performace is great, heartfelt and touching. Great sounding guitar aswell! What kind of microphone are you using?

With love
