Hi,

Here's our little entry for the competition.

Tom wrote he lyrics and I developed a funky little backing track, and with a few hops across the pond courtesy of the internet and its time to fledge the tune on you good folks..

The main issue was trying to marry the acoustics of the vocals given the different recording environments, in the end I ended up doing something contrasting.

Anyway we'd love your thoughts and suggestions.

 :)

Call me superstitious but there’s a full moon on the rise
It’s got me a bit suspicious, a word of caution to the wise
There ain’t no silver bullet and God don’t hear my sorry cries

Call me superstitious. Listen up now that’s not all
It got me a bit suspicious when my mirror took a fall
What’s not spelled out in the tea leaves, is written on the wall

She walked in like an angel up to the bar at 3 AM
But what laid in bed beside me when I woke up was looking grim

She had spiders in her garden, a broom of straw stood by the bed
I asked if she smelled sulpher, that’s when her eyes turned ruby red
Yeah, there’s a doll of me she’s pinning. I’m the poster boy for the walking dead

So, call me superstitious but the midnight hour’s close at hand
Paranoid or just suspicious? A little of both, I do contend
But that telephone keeps ringing with no one on the other end

Yay! An entry. :D

I don't see anything to pick at. I like the blues treatment. Sorry I'm not good at writing awesome feedback messages like some of the ones I see. I'm going to blame it on the loud ringing in my ears.... ???

Damn, just when I want to listen to your song my phone starts ringing - every time! And when I get there the call stopped.  ???  ;D

Superstitious and funk ... that seems to ring some phone - ah - bell?

'nuff kidding. This is so cool! Instant head bobbing alert. Amazing mix and clarity. I love that harmonica solo.

Just perfect!

Weird, but absolutely consistent. Fantastic effects, I particularly love how the scream blends with the instrumental part beginning at 2:09.

Kudos!

Super funky guitar - bit of the old Stevie Rays, always a good thing. Love the contrasting vocals and when they come in together it's a great sound. Lovely blues harp. Great stuff most enjoyable.

Hey guys
James Brown meets Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Great arrangement - really liked the lyrics and the telephone effects.
Good singin' too :) You could have at least put sth in there to criticize!  ;D ;D

This will be hard to top in the competition - good luck!

the lyrics are great & make a fab blues song... you have a terrific voice tom  I havent heard you sing like this before
my fave bits were neils very british owww at the start & that fabulous scream that  becomes a harmonica!
I wondered what the telephone ringing was at the start?...but found out at the end which was a nice touch
so a very fine song not exactly spooky but a great sounding rnb number ideal for a blues man called superstitious steve  :)
what about superstitious stevie ray wonder! ...a blind black & white striped blues soul man ;D
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

Yow ! Boys you really smashed this. I think the different dynamics work extremely well. That's often forgotten in today's overproduced dross. Love the bit where the howl turns into a harmonica solo. Great colab. Cheers John

Jeeze, but I hate it when people use real ringtones in songs! 'cos you can't be sure can you? so you have to check don't you? ... just me? Oh! Okay.

This is great. Brilliant! got to be a contender. Very good lyric with some great lines and a lot of humour. Great feel too. Love the way the vocals blend into the harp. Love the enviably slick guitar, bass and drums.

Got to go now ... phone's ringing!
They're, there, their  ...  They're all different!

Very nice, highlights the quality on this forum.

Such good lyrics, great instrumental and fantastic production. Quirky enough to keep me engaged too, I mean the harmonica coming out of the scream was just beautiful (massive smile moment).

Vocals also deserve a shoutout, real good go at it and done the lyrics justice.

The contrast in vocal recording didn't really work for me and was noticeable, but not enough to ruin the song and sounds like you made the best of something difficult.

Cheers
