You Don't Know Me
by: Matthew Hickman © 2014. Category: About life | Genre: Pop

Song info:
I wrote this song as it has a close meaning to my life as I used to get bullied at school. Instead of going on the streets and causing violence, I sit in my home and write songs. Which is a way to clear your mind and write a song about anything!

Verse 1:
I try not to remember the days in the past,
when I got called 'idiot' and a 'skinny prat'
Words like that inspired me,
to be the person I am now at.

Verse 2:
Seeing is deceiving, my ears are still ringing,
from the pouring pain I felt those years.
I know I am no smoker, or a heavy doser
I'd rather be me, no one can change that

Chorus 1:
Everything was a battlefield,
This was reality,
I always knew I would fight back,
fight like a soldier,

Time went passed,
throughout the days I gasped,
through the verbal pain
''you don't know me''

I was the football,
you used to kick me
and pretended to be my friend
only because I sing

I could feel the jealously,
of what that came beneath of you
all I could say is that
''you don't know me''

Spoken words:
Time has come and gone,
I was the lion who fought for what was right
I would like to thank my friends,
Mary-jane and Suzanne
Thank you!

          Matt,
Felt every blow, and stood there like a guilty bystander. This touches me like a sledghammer, and i cannot let it pass, without saying something. I love the way you turned the anger and hurt to song, so positive and life affirming. The only line i struggled with was, "Of what that came beneath you" Apart from that, your song hit home.

Thank you very much, I really do appreciate that. And yeah, I know what you mean, I used a staggered meaning which allows you to flow in-between words which wouldn't normally make sense in other terms. :)

PS: I know I'm only 17, but I put my heart a soul into Songwriting. As I'm a Singer-songwriter, the best ways to get passed emotional distress is to write a song, or at the least, write part of a song or use artistic vision to come up with lyrics.
