I'm very happy to have found this forum! I don't know if it's proper for me to post a song as my first post on this forum, but after reading some of the posts here and seeing the quality of feedback this community provides, I'm going ahead with it.

I'm thinking this guy is pretty much done but I'd love some feedback. Feel free to be as critical as you think necessary, I'm out to learn. Thank you in advance!

edit: Adding lyrics:

misogyny - kwalsh 4-6-2023

verse 1

when the sun comes up
i will find you
when the time is right
baby you're coming home

you know i didn't mean
a single thing i said oh no
you know you always put me
baby out my head oh yeah

and i don't like to look for you
no i don't like to look for you

- solo

and i don't like to look for you
no i don't like to look for you

- chorus

look on over your shoulder
he's coming up behind you
you'll get your answers
before you're through

an in the cold in the dark
of an empty home
you think about a future
spent all alone
and you cry in the dark
as the devil makes his deal

verse 2

when i close my eys
i can see you
when i feel the pull
baby i will be gone

you know i alway do
everything i say oh yeah
you know you'll always be my babe
the one that i love whoa yeah

and i won't ever look for you
no i won't ever look for you

- chorus

look on over your shoulder
he's coming up behind you
you'll get your answers
before you're through

look on over your shoulder
he's coming up behind you
you'll get your answers
before you're through

when the sun comes up
i will find you
when the time is right
baby you're coming home

@rocksmoot  Welcome to the forum!

In general, you will get a lot more responses if you also post comments on other's work. In addition, you should post lyrics :)  Having said that, here's my feedback.

You have a great voice ( reminds me of a more rock version of Bruce Springsteen). Really like the rock vibe of this one, with some really nice guitar playing complementing the vocals (and really good backing vocals as well). The intro probably needs a little tidying up, but once the song gets going it works really well.  Also, the ending is a little sudden, which is okay,  but the last bits of guitar could be trimmed

Hi, welcome, hope you like it here.
Great first track to post.
If sounded well produced to me with good build and dynamics.
Enjoyed the fluid guitar licks and your vocal delivery had good commitment too.
Impressive and enjoyable stuff.
It's all too beautiful.

Welcome to the forum. As Kevin said, it's good to post the lyrics too (to me, they're at least as important as the music!).

Aside from that, it's pretty good. I'm not sure on the ending, though. It ended a little abruptly for my taste. It might sound better either fading it out or having a bit of a longer ending.

Hello, welcome to the club!
Good song, good sound and good story.
I love guitars too, what reverb do you use? The bass also has a great presence here.
I am glad to have known your work.

Please, could you put the lyric? and comment on other's songs?

Have a nice Sunday!

Thanks for the great critiques, folks. I've added the lyrics to the original post, my apologies for leaving them out.

@kevysc - Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated, and I will indeed take the time to comment on other's work. When you say tidying, are you referring to that point where the bass comes in? Thanks again.

@PaulyX - Thank you for taking the time to listen.

@Sterix - Thank you, lyrics posted. Sounds like we're building a consense on the ending, I appreciate the feedback.

@moraamarolaloba - Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment. The song was recorded, mixed and mastered using Cakewalk by Bandlab, which I've used in one form or another for many years.

- The vocal reverb is Overloud's convolution reverb, Rematrix Solo. It comes with Cakewalk (in the Pro Channel strip) and I'm using the Vox Plate 2 IR with a pretty aggressive high pass at around 450hz. I've paid for a bunch of reverbs but I somehow tend to end up with Rematrix on the reverb bus. Overloud also sells a version of Rematrix as a VST, I believe.
- For guitar, I use IK's Tonex amp profiling plugin using captures of the Tweed Deluxe and Deluxe Reverb amps that I built. The reverb is Tonex's Plate reverb and I think I also send a bit of guitar into the reverb bus as well.

Thanks for asking, sorry to run long, I love jabbering about this stuff.

Hi @rocksmoot

There's some nice harmony usage in here. This a a very nice song with some nice guitar playing and sounds both of which reminded me touch of one Mr Knopfler. I'd agree with the other comment re the end. I think you could potentially keep the arrangement as is and 'go for it' with the vocal in the repetition of the first verse thereby climaxing better. It does sound a bit like the train ran out of track otherwise.

Nice work and pleasure to meet you, so to speak.

Nice melody and nice vocals. Pleasure to listen to!
I would work on the drums a bit, make the rhythm more interesting and the sound not so bright. :))

@rocksmoot

Hi definitely get the Dire Straits/Springsteen vibe. Excellent vocals, and some very nice guitar playing. The drums are a bit prominent for my taste. Very good!

Cheers
