Hello

i've offered to run this months song competition...it'll be the usual tried and tested formula of votes by PM for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in relation to the shortlist that is decided on at the end of January.

Open to anyone who has over 100 posts to their name...so please get posting your finished songs...it'd be great to see some more competition for the big hitters of the forum :)

I'll be listening to every eligible song posted...good luck everyone!

Hi guys,
I'm wondering if songs that are being entered into Valentines comp. should be eligible
for the song of the month comp as well  ??? Personally, I don't think they should be, because
that would give them an advantage :o If they were shortlisted, that would mean they'd already have been voted, as one the best songs of the month, and to me, that's a huge advantage ::)
I don't even think we should be able to post a comp song, until a month before the comp deadline :o
But that just my humble opinion ;D ;D

Hello crystalsuzy,

Interesting point...I'd perhaps be inclined to agree with you that those competition entries might be best kept seperate from the SOTM competition.

Happy to take advice from the rest of the forum, though :)

Best wishes

Paul

Hi - Keeping the competition entries separate from SOTM makes sense to me ... but happy to go with any past practice there might have been on this...
Cheers

Don't think there will be a problem really. None of the top 3 in the Dreams competition  were even nominated for SOTM. I think I posted my song in May, MartiMedia in June and Digger et.al in July. So I'm not sure if a song posted for a competition have any advantage when it comes to SOTM. Anyway, I don't really have any opinion on this, it's just for fun so it really does not matter that to me if competition songs are excluded from SOTM or not.

For what it's worth,my gut reaction is that it's best to keep competitions separate. I'm not sure entering one to perhaps win a different competition,or lose to a song from another competition doesn't feel quite right to me!

Having given it some thought, I'll keep any other competition entries separate from the Jan SOTM contenders.

there's still time to sneak one in  ;)
