Hey everyone. I've had a slow music year so far this year - partly due to lack of ideas and lyrical inspiration, but have managed to finish this new one off. All thoughts and constructive feedback welcome!

I’d whisper a shout, tread lightly around, for fear that you would bite
I’d stifle my doubts and cover my mouth to circumvent a fight
I wasted a long long time, pretending I aint right
I waited, a broken child,  hiding in plain sight

I just had to do this for me
Fly the nest and get all this figured out
Planned to land back one day, I’m sorry
Somewhere along I got lost out in the clouds

You’d judge with your sighs, freak out with your cries if I stepped outside your lines
I’d feel like a fool til I hummed to your tune, it was so loud that I couldn’t hear mine
I prayed in my darkest hours that I could just disappear
Nowadays, after years and miles, it’s still feels like you’re too near

So I had to do this for me
Fly the nest and go find out what's out there
I hope one day we can say we’re sorry
I always knew that its not like you didn’t care, cos under your despair
And selfish acts that you disguised as love, love still was there
Maybe one day I can reach higher ground
But I’m still lost in the clouds

I just had to do this for me
I wanted to heal for both of us
But every time I try to reconnect the same old patterns come up

So I had to do this for me
Fly the nest and go find out what's out there
I hope one day we can say we’re sorry
I always knew that its not like you didn’t care, cos under your despair
And selfish acts that you disguised as love, love still was there
Maybe one day I can reach higher ground
But I’m still lost in the clouds

Lovely voice and fine lyrics.
Inspires me to give it more voice in my own productions.
Melody steals the show here

Unconditional solo, there. Like it.
Very committed voice and a nice build up at the end.

Good work!
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

This has a great groove @The Holographic Rodeo Its got a great live feel. I love your vocal delivery, it’s really distinct and different and suits this song so well. Loads of balls in this number too. Great to hear another one from you 😀

"the story sounds like it truly came from the writer's experience - lyrics sound real and
conversational."
Great job !!

This track really hit me as soon as it kicked in. The vocal is fabulous - I wish had that kinda range. I like the gritty rock backing too. I absolutely love this. It's modern, but it has some great rock n roll roots too. I doubt that I'll hear anything better than this tonight!
