I really enjoyed listening to this one @Dorian It's quite unique and your vocal works very well with this style of song. Clever and considered lyrics and I love some of the sounds that you have conjured up. It's got a wonderful freshness that is sometimes lost in more overproduced stuff. Excellent song  :)

Beautiful lyrics and very thoughtfully done. I think the vocal is beyond criticism in something like this because of its message, honesty and integrity. It’s perfect for what you need to do…and that’s all that matters.

We weren’t quite as obviously diverse when I was a youngster…the name of the game was mostly just not to draw attention to yourself and try to avoid getting mugged for your dinner money, or your head kicked in by one of the local basket-cases for no reason whatsoever.

It broke a lot of people.

Hi Paul
The second part of your post
Makes me reflect.

I'm an expat living in Germany
My 50+ y.o. pink brit friends seem to have this survival mode going on
Just as you described it.
Draw no attention, head in the sand, avoid getting mugged by psychos and taxmen.

Then there's me with a steadfast aversion to meds,
my active interest in sport and nutrition,
my voluntary struggles to develop and realise ideas in music.

I'm rattling, hungover from a birthday party last night.

All the best 👍

Yes, this is a fine thing
Unusual and refreshing
The voice uncompromisingly theatrical but sounds authentic.
The words and sentiment are sympathetic and coherent.
The listen brought vague images of beauty and the beast.
Where the beast is actually quite handsome,
often well dressed but looks dignified in rags.

You Are an interesting artist.

I'm lazy to write a new song , its a lot of work and I push myself to hard , So I'll cut this , its in my key
So Nick that's how I do it , work tape to tracks
Willie Nelson had a funny story , He was sent the "Gambler" Kenny Rogers.  Man I got to many songs , I don't wanna learn them lyrics  . I bet he wished he cut that before Kenny , not that he cares now at 91

Willie was so frustrated with the biz , he layed down on the road at 2am , hoping a car would run over him , Of course at 2am , there are no cars lol

Man, you've just transported me to The Cavern.  So much to admire here John:  Excellent production, cool guitar sounds and a fine vocal.  Great energy and style.  I'd welcome more of this, please!

I love the message that you have delivered here.  It's a song of hope when oftentimes it may be in short supply.  The production here is quality.  I love country music and it is always playing in my car during my work commute.  I think that the output from many modern country writers is interesting, accomplished and melodic.  George Strait's 'How 'bout them cowgirls' is perhaps my favourite of this genre and also I adore the music of Miranda Lambert.  'Bluebird' is excellent!  Good luck with your promotion and welld done presenting a fine song.

A lovely classical intro that draws us into a melody and production fitting of a Bond theme.  It's got that Bond-like guitar sound too.
The lyrics are very well written.  I love the pause before the chorus.  This song benefits from the inclusion of a real drummer. Moving into the middle-eight section, we're into Robbie Williams territory when he partnered with Guy Chambers. As always, you go the extra mile with really cool backing vocals and they don't overcrowd the production with their inclusion. I love saxophone but I'd lift it above the instrumentation.  At the moment, the piano is more prominent. There's a big reward to you as a songwriter for continuously flexing your writing muscles.  Kudos to you!

The Bar / Re: You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me

Shades of The Jam @PaulAds,  Unexpected chord changes adorn this composition.  I find it very impressive that you have found the motivation to revisit the past.  The highlight for me is your bass, guitar playing and production.  I think that you are a finer songwriter today.  I've listened to your new album and it is a quality listen.  Killer couplets in abundance and melody to match!
