After reviewing the feedback so far, I made several possible edits. I'm interested in whether these make the lyric better or worse. Or maybe, some of each? They're in the original post above, plus I've added them to this post for convenience.

Right now, the part I like the least is the tag at the end. Is that just me or does it need work?

======

EVERYBODY WANTS YOU, BABY

CHORUS
Everybody wants to hold you, everybody wants to squeeze you, Baby,
But you don't want anybody but me.
Everybody wants to hold you, everybody wants to squeeze you, Baby,
But you don't want anybody but me.
I confess there are days that I wouldn't mind sharing
And I insist it's not for lack of caring
But, Baby, sometimes, sometimes we don't agree.
'Cause I'm devoted to you, Baby, and I'm sure you know what I mean.

VERSE 1
I fell in love the day we met
In moments I will not forget
'Cuz no one in the world could ever be like you.
I couldn't bear to be apart
You commandeered my helpless heart

And even when you're acting rude
Or crying shamelessly for food

If you weren't in my life, I don't know what I'd do

VERSE 2
The passing years So quickly I saw subtle change
My life became so rearranged
In ways I had proclaimed declared that I would not allow
I loved you still and yet I cried
You're tearing up my heart inside
And still I know I'll never, ever let you down.

INSTRUMENTAL

VERSE 2

CHORUS

TAG/CODA
But you can't help it; you're only three.
You're my baby girl, my little chickadee.

I like it much better!
The end tag works perfect for me.
The only weak spot for me now is:

Quote
You're tearing up my heart inside
And still I know I'll never, ever let you down.

Can't see the double entendre there - applies to only a man IMO

What about sth like

Quote
You pull my heartstrings deep inside
But I'll never want to put you down

.. or not!

cheers
Paul

I like it, Paul! You always seem to have really good ideas. I think I might kind of use it, if that's okay.

BTW, did you know, when I go to town, I'm so close to Canada, I can walk there (which I haven't actually done for a long time now)? Silly question. Why do people ask questions when they already know the answer??? I used to sing with a Canadian woman at a bar over there. Years ago.

Hi Vicki

It's a nice idea, perhaps I'd try to use a different age, as I think the brotherhood of man's 1970's UK Eurovision Song Contest winner "save your kisses for me" has the ending "won't you save them for me, even though you're only three".

It's so difficult to find something that hasn't been done before by someone somewhere in the world.

I've googled lyrics and song titles I've thought of only to find that some guy in Marrakech has a polar bear with the same name, or something.

Huh! And I avoided age 6, because Johnny Rivers did that one....
