Hi all,
I've been playing with a pseudo classical piano piece for months and finally tried to construct a song around it. I've kept it simple in terms of arrangement. I wanted to create a sound and a melody reminiscent of a hymn. I tried to have 2 and 3 part harmonies throughout the song but it was taking forever, so in the end I only have them in the chorus, so interested to hear views!
The premise is that life is tough and if you try to avoid that fact you are deceiving yourself, and you will learn nothing. Without studying the 'bad' things in life we fail to learn from our mistakes. Also there is a nod towards those people who are prepared to sacrifice their own lives so that others can live in peace and freedom.
Does any of this make sense?
Cheers
Jamie

We can't turn away from our troubles in life
We learn from our history, hardship and strife
The sun on our faces, the rain from the sky
The cry of a child as we ask ourselves why
We live for our loves and the need to grow
All types of learning we need to know
We die from ignorance, from fear and flight
We're searching in darkness and seeking out light
All people we love and the land we defend
Are all a part of who we are in the end
Face up to the demons, it's a real life out there
Sometimes it's torture and too much to bear
There's good and there's evil, famine and feast
The light of the Gods and the mark of the beast
All people we love and the land we defend
Are all a part of who we are in the end
Sometimes we have to be brave and sometimes have to fight
Ignorance and evil are the thieves in the night
