Yeah nice sound....those jangly guitars.

First line of chorus is a great one...think you could continue the harmonies right through except the very last line (of the chorus).

As all have said good Brit feel and sound and it's a good song.

Think you need to come back to this (not the song...mix and arrangement etc) when you've resolved some of those real life things.

All the best to you and Mrs PJ.
Take it easy.

Another fine song Pompey. The subject matter is well addressed. i wonder how many lives have been undermined by gambling problems. thats a question for another forum. it has echoes of Teenage Fanclub for me. Pompey do you know them? good work again.

Yo Pomp

I was thinking indie 80's and then the backing vocals took it to the 60s - (The Lad Broke Life In a Time Machine) really great upbeat number - excellent bass and jangly guitars - nice guitar break at 2:30. Love your vocal delivery, quite a range there.

Another great one.

Hi Pompey,

Just listened to this again for SOTM and noticed a little bit of distortion that I didn't notice before.

I'm hearing it up to about 0:30 and then again when the same part repeats I think.

Don't know if this is important to you or not but I thought I'd mention it.

Didn't affect my voting.

This is a WONDERFUL song and the vocal performance is stellar!

The drums feel a bit "too big" for the track IMHO

The kick drum is too loud and the crash cymbals wash the track out a bit

The vocal sounded a little "drowned" and detached from the song at times

The song and performance are so good though I do think it would be worth the effort of re-visiting the mix when you have had a break from it for a while

Definitely one of my favourite forum songs and I agree with the "out squeezing Squeeze" comment!

Just a note to say a big thank you to everyone. I've remixed this today and a big thanks Yodasdad, I have hopefully removed the distortion and Boydie, I told the drummer to tone it down and he went off in a strop  :) I,ve lowered the kick and removed some crash. Thanks all so much again for some wonderfully encouraging comments  :)

Hi John,

Very good song.
Strong melodies throughout.
The backing vocals work very well.
I could imagine the Beatles sounding something like this if they'd been around in the 80s.

Great stuff.
