Title: How to pick THE song

So there's been a lot of speculation about the uk songwriting competition and I've never entered however this year I really want to. I'd be entering in the lyrics section but how do I pick THE song? I mean I know I've got no chance of winning but I still want to enter me best piece so do I go for originality, emotion, memorability, talent, etc? Everyone's told me to check previous winners and I have and that's still not giving me a lot of guidance :( So tell me, nice forum people, what would YOU do?

pick the lyrics with the most meaning to you and obviously from previous winners work out if you have a better chance with lyrics or the lyrics and a tune to go with.

 hi jess,

 i read one of the winners uk songwriters think it was 2010
 i think it was called mandys eyes
 briliant

 my honest opinion i've not had to much chance yet to read to many of your works
 but just to say what i have read
 i think you would do well you go for it and good luck...
