Following BooBoo question in the Bar here's the first song wot I ever wrote, a long, long time ago.
It a thinly disguised caricature of mates and an homage to the magnificent Ian Dury   ;D
I remember at the time being pretty darn pleased and it has a certain laddish way about it I guess.
And of course it has to be sung in that deep London talkin accent.

A bit of the other..

Do you know what I mean?
You’re making it seem
Like a bit of the other
If you know what I mean
It’s a little bit obscene
Like a bit under cover
Of darkness, so down come the night
Someone sick again so turn on the lights

Oi Oi.... A bit of the other

Well you think you’re OK
Take the piss all the day
You’re a bit of a mother
Daddy’s clothes are so smart
You’re a bit of a fart
Oops, there goes another
Jack the lad, we’re stick in the Standard all night
Pissed as newts again its a sorry old sight

And we all like Ian Dury
And we all like Ian Dury
And we all like, a bit of the other

Kevin and Doris
Drive in a Morris
While Chris has a jolly good crap ( and tells us all about it an’ all )
Oh we’re ever so bitchy
While Chris he gets itchy
‘So scratch it’, he does in full view
Of the girls who cry “ it ain’t all there’
They laugh, they sigh but it’s all in despair

And we all like Ian Dury
And we all like Ian Dury
And we all like, a bit of the other

You gotta admit Neil, its actually got a bit charm to it.

It certainly gave me a chuckle, some of those lines took me back to my own youth.

Definitely not a bad song for your your first attempt that you did. A bit rough around the edges but to e expected really. You can get the song spoken feeling from it

Thanks,
I was a bit unsure about putting it up, I mean I'm not the same person but I am if that makes any sense. The words do work with the music, which I may put up one day.
Cheers for your comments, I may have started something here..
Jess: he's worth checking out, a fantastic, very funny and sometime rude writer, a great performer with some top tunes including a No 1 "Hit me with your rhythm stick" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Dury Sadly no longer with us.

Enjoy, he was good, although some of his songs were quite rude.

Great  Tongue in cheek  type of lyrics.....& very brave!  Most refrain from  Farts n carts  but  its writing from your feelings at a moment in time.  I once took a stroll  on a beach in Goa at 4.00  a.m &
had a conversation  with a shell!   The lyrics just came naturally  & I wrote that song.  Lol.

                     Humour.......I love it!                             Stylus :)

I'm liking this as it's a bit different to what's normally posted on boards. It's certainly got the laddish quality!

First album i ever bought was 'New Boots And Panties' Although i didn't have a love affair with Nina in the back of my Cortina!

Nice one.
I don't know what i'm doing but i do it anyway.

Hi Neil C, yep, definitely an Ian Drury feel to this, bless him.  I don't know if I dare post my first song, if I can find it.
Jess, here's how clever and what a brilliant lyricist Ian Drury was (Clever Trevor)
