Hi Johnny.  I'm amazed that this song was recorded 15 years ago as it seems very contemporary with regard to what is popular now. It's very well put together and produced and I can see how you have employed your songwriting techniques to it. If that was 15 years ago then I would love to hear something that you wrote last week  :)

Yo Johnny.

'Tis a lovely song and well sung, good sound too,my ears enjoyed it.  :)

I think you do yourself a disservice by claiming not to know what you were doing, either that,or you were damn lucky with the knob twiddling.  ;D

 Hi Johnny,

Not sure which song on your site I'm supposed to be listening to  ::)
BUT...they all sound good to me ;D .  Some nice grooves and songs.
Sounds like you know your onions ;D ;D ;D

Agree 100% regarding emotion and passion.  That would also apply to
playing as well as singing.....One note played/sung with emotion is worth
 100 played/sung without etc etc  ;D ;D .  Can be overdone though....if you
try and force it. Best to let it happen naturally/instinctively.  Some of the
vocal gymnastics I hear on the radio these days, are too cliched and practiced.
They lack the passion IMO.  Without the passion they sound contrived.  Impressive, but
they fail to connect with me.  In the end, I think it's all about expression, if you've
written something that's meaningful, a story you want to tell.  Then you will deliver it
 with emotion and passion.

Very nice. Excellent vocals and production sounds pretty good. Difficult to tread the well-worn path of the lyric subject matter without avoiding cliches but you did a pretty good job there too. Putting the lyrics up on the thread would help us follow the song better.

I’m not really sure how much could be added to the song in its current form by giving it a better production...you have a plan though, no doubt...

Love the piano playing, they compliment the string and synths section very well.

You sing this very well and the lyrics are very touching.

Just as I was getting into it the song finished, it should be 50 percent longer I think.

Agree with Pompeyjazz it has a very contemporary feel.

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful little inter play with piano and string in the intro :) The whole track was an amazing listen. Strong vocals which were, IMO, sung with
just the right amount of emotion  :'( Loved the lyrics and the production sounds pretty good to me  :) Don't know how you could improve, other than adding to the length  :)

Hi Johnny it's a lovely song , so,well produced - it's not really my thing but even to a non musician to me the quality is obvious.
And I don't think that a song like this will ever date

Very emotional and heart felt lyrics which I think we can all relate to at some stage in our life this a song very much from the heart and is the only way to write in my opinion

Hi Johnny

that's really good, and as others have said, really contemporary!
Lovely vocals, great pitching and feel, strong melody, and a great delicate piano arrangement to support it. Could really feel that you meant the words.

Could be longer, but then sometimes it's good to leave them wanting more!

excellent song and the right length i reckon.. :)sounds like you've got a mellotron  in there..always liked the sound of a mellotron :)
song could be done a few different ways of course but your chosen path is doing it justice..

Wow.. that melody on the chorus is so beautiful! One of the best things I've ever heard here on the forum to be honest! I love this kind of 'depressing songs' I guess, it's so full of emotion. Really loved the strings on the intro, they sounded quite natural to me. Only thing I would change is the delay effect on the vocals, but other than that, I think this is an amazing song!

Hey Johnny
It does sound contemporary.
I like your choice of synth patches a lot in the original.
Plus the way you don’t over emote. It is very well sung.
Lyrically, straight love songs without some kind of twist or motif just don’t grab me... kinda feel I’ve heard so many before if you know what I mean, I zone out on the words. But I know I’m massively in the minority on that and there’s definitely a big appeal to many from a song like this. Good luck with the updated version.
