Title: (new song) No Title.
Post by: shadowfax on May 03, 2019, 10:50:12 AM
Hi..this song is about whatever you might want to read into it... :)

https://soundcloud.com/knmac/no-title-by-knmac

Darkness gives way to the light,
we know that everythings alright,
we hope our dreams will all come true one day,
but then, life gets in the way,

we dare, believe in what we feel,
we spin around in lifes big wheel,
we walk into the deep unknown and then,
too late, time and tide again,

we all know the weight,
everyone carries,
from the cradle to the grave,
you pay your fees,
but the world we know,
isnt fair y'know,
as we walk the streets,
we see our enemies.

chose to win chose to lose,
see it every day,
to fight and fight they chose,
they've lost their way,
the streets are paved with gold,
if only they could see,
so come in from the cold,
and walk along with me.

we know, not so far away,
we'll be a lonely castaway,
we're free with nowhere left to go and then,
who knows, we might just live again..©KNmac

best to all, Kevin :)

Hey Kevin, lots to like here man, I especially like your vocal melody and how it drops on the "one day" that's a nice little hook right there.🎶👍🏻🎶 nice "wide open" lyric, that allows it to be about whatever you need it to be and of course, cool musical backdrop!! Nice one buddy!!!🎶👊🏻🎶

Fabulous rhythm guitar and great 80s vibe. I loved the chord sequence in the breakdown in particular. Great stuff Kev

Yo Kev.

The irresesistible rhythm set up in the intro builds nicely and delivers a repeatedly killer punch. The breakdown around 1.54 is superb and leaves me gagging for the beat to continue.

Lyrically and speaking from a personal point of view, this is among your finest work. Life encapsulated in song.

BTW,the song should be named,'Life gets in the Way'.

If you pick that title,I'll have a contract drawn up to allow me 50% songwriting credit. It's how I roll man!  :D

Seriously Kevin, this is a top notch piece.  8)

@shadowfax (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20024) - Nice tune, I don't know why but all I hear is an early OMD, it has all the elements of it, just that the voice is different. It's good to hear an acoustic gtr and synth going hell for leather.

enjoyed it.

Great momentum in this one Kev... that driving rhythm guitar, and the drums just keep nudging it up a gear or two. There’s no wasted space in this. Middle 8 was a great diversion too - quite a left turn, but it fits very fell. Nothing I would change, great high energy track. If it’s not a trade secret, could I ask what processing you do to the vocals? They always sound so spot on, its almost like you’ve used a vocoder or something, but they still sound very natural...If it’s anything more than just being able to sing pitch perfect in the first place I’d love to know what the trick is.

Hi Kevin,

Good song.
Made me think of Big Country a bit.

Love the bridge - very melodic.
Rhythm acoustic really tight and drives the song along.
Surprised the track was only a little over 3 mins; seemed longer - but in a good way; So much to like in such a relatively short space of time.

Hi Kev,

Great song, definitely got a 80s New Romantic Feel.

Cool production, love that change in pace around 2 minutes.

Percussion are excellent and love those guitars.

Top tune.

Great production - Really like the rhythm of it from the start inc that guitar, synth also really great - and then the break in pace was just gorgeous - really fab and kind of emotional..  Just polished, great music.. Your vocals, as always, lovely!

I agree with skub as to the title, if at 1:08 you sing "life gets in the way" to that high string sound melody. Good song. I think the cradle to the grave line is a bit over used, though.

You always come up with nice sonic ideas in your songs, and they evolve in interesting ways. I'm not a fan of some of the lyrical phrasing though. In a couple of places, it kind of sounds like the words were written first, then shoehorned into the music. For example, "carries" is accented on the second syllable, which sounds a little strange.

I did enjoy it though and listen to all your stuff. "In My Room" remains my favourite song ever posted on this forum.

Love the tight chugging acoustic, driving the whole thing forward.

The breakdown really works well and comes at the right time, providing excellent contrast. Is that a little oboe I can hear at the end as well?

Really cool, Kev :)

Sorry I'm late for the party!  :(
Top drawer stuff, you have such a consistent high level of all you stuff.
Personally I'd like the vox a bit more up front and perhaps a tad more of the snare even though the guitars are doing a fine job driving it along relentlessly.
Prob just my personal prefs shining through, keep or sweep.
Well done!

Hi,

I'd echo what Jambrains has said. Needs the vocals up but otherwise you never fail to deliver. You are the master of the effective chord change.
