Title: Soundcloud Pro User - is it worth becoming one?
Post by: mickyplankton on October 26, 2017, 06:12:35 PM
Hey guys,

What are your experiences as a Pro User. Worth the sub?

Let me know thinking of doing it - to support Soundcloud if nothing else

Yeah...definitely. I just renewed my subscription. Updating songs and remixing etc without losing track stats is the main thing for me...but I really like helping to support the platform.

I definitely vote yes. It's low cost and they need the money. It's my primary place to post music, so I'd have to do a lot of work moving my stuff if they disappear. Ugh! I also really like being able to update my songs without losing the stats.

DEFINITELY for me as well

I find the unlimited storage really helpful as it not only allows me to share my own music but it is really useful for collaborating/working with others

The streamed version is a helpful and convenient pre-view (although I can often hear compression artefacts)

However - the download option allows the ORIGINAL file to be downloaded (without any compression etc.) so it is useful to share versions of mixes

Being able to update versions of songs without losing comments or stats is also really useful

It's a cool tool for not much outlay.

Boydie,  I take it that the unlimited storage version is the top pro plan ?

Sorry, yes - I didn't realise there were 2 tiers

The unlimited storage was very important to me as I use SoundCloud for lots of different reasons/projects

It appears the normal "PRO" gives 6 hours of audio (as opposed to 3 hours on the free plan) and also gives the ability to update files and get some analytics

The PRO UNLIMITED is more expensive but gives unlimited audio and some fancier analytics (which I don't really use)

To save some cash as I pay upfront

The current pricing is:

PRO: £5 per month or £40.50 for the year

PRO UNLIMITED: £8 per month or £67.50 for the year

I definitely get my money's worth and it is nice to be able to keep a "cloud backup" of songs and organise them into playlists etc.

I would be very sad to see SoundCloud disappear if it ever did go over the edge

Dunno what bonkers exchange rate they're using but in Euros the unlimited is 99 a year, so about 88 quid!

I use Pro for all the above reasons.

As a slight tangent, does anybody know how to get the SoundCloud iPhone app to sync so that it always plays the latest version of your track?

It clearly caches the tracks(as it still works on the tube with no signal) but Im not sure of the process of syncing the latest version.

Currently I delete the app and reinstall just to get the latest version of my track which is a pain!

I think I am persuaded. I also believe that with the paid version, I would be able to push certain tracks to the top of the page right? Rather than it just being in in the order I uploaded them.

Yeah, Bill...you can create a “spotlight” of your top 5 songs which will show up first when people land on your page. You can group tracks into albums and playlists as well, I think.

It's a known "bug" awaiting a fix both on Android and IOS as far as I know

Unfortunately you have to uninstall and re-install  >:(

I second that, a real pain as I try to listen to an updated mix and all I heard is the old on on mobile!
any ideas?
