Hi all, hopefully one or two will notice this on this board. Well I’ve just put out a new song called ‘Phyllis the Fish’ https://soundcloud.com/michael-a-duffy/phyllis-the-fish (https://soundcloud.com/michael-a-duffy/phyllis-the-fish).
The thread for it is on the main Songs For Review board. In the story a crowd gather round an icy lake to watch Phyllis try to swim it in order to prove her love. Things don’t go to plan, but then the crowd burst into song, bidding her farewell.
Trouble is, the crowd is just me at the moment and - thanks to feedback from @MonnoDB (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19820) - I realise I could do with some volunteers to sing a long on that end double chorus. You don’t have to do perfect vocals, it’s just a blended crowd sound that would be heard.
If I get any takers I will put a private downloadable track on Soundcloud so you can use that to sing your bit. Could be fun! ;)

I'd be happy to record a few passes for you @MichaelA (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21274). Song is great btw

I'll (fish and) chip(s) in too :)

Great stuff, @Jack Simmons (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18691) , @PaulAds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20253) and from the other thread @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269). A crowd of three is a grand start, but I am hoping for quite a few more yet. Don't be shy about asking the guy reading the gas meter, or whoever, when you are recording to join in if you like. ;D
Here is a private link to a downloadable version and the lyrics. It is 90 bpm and in key of D major.

Please just sing a long with the final double chorus from about 2.40. Send me back a stem via SC. or wherever, with no reverb or echo etc on your vox so I can get them all sounding like they're in the same place.
Great volunteering guys, thanks! I am just waiting for @MonnoDB (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19820) to put her hand up at any moment too, only fair as it was actually her idea for this crowd joining in! ;) Any more for any more...roll up everyone, it's not often you get the chance to pretend you're singing by the side of a lake lamenting a drowned swimmer. ;) This could be the big break you are looking for!
Any time in the next week would be great...say by 18th April, ta.

I am going to try to do this. Just moved, the house is utter disaster, but I did get a lot of boxes out of the music room and am close to getting the computer and microphone set up. I haven't listened yet, so it would depend on the pitches being in my limited range. Or I could possibly harmonize, if needed to get it in there.

Thanks so much @MonnoDB (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19820) (and maybe daughter and even hubby at a stretch, ha ha! ;) ) and @CaliaMoko (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19928) too. The more the merrier.
I was wondering if others, for a random example, such as @Wicked Deeds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19231) , @Neil C (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18856). @Jamie (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19125) , @Sterix (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22024). @adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) and the ready made crowd @5 guys named Lars (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22535) might enjoy a crack at this too. I'm trying to recruit ten crowd members minimum, so all help is most welcome. But if any other forum members wake up in the middle of the night tonight and there's an odd looking northern England bloke sticking a mike in front of your gob, well don't make a fuss, just sing!
Bless ya all! ;)

Yeah great @MichaelA (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21274) :) . Every singalong has some jerk who sings badly out of tune..I`m your jerk. The other 4 Lars`s are unfortunately on a meditational sabbatical in Bromley but I`ll certainly do it. :)
Cheers,
Lars.

Excellent @5 guys named Lars (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22535) ...or at least One guy named Lars, I’d split up from the other four if I were you, they’re wasters ;) Thanks for joining in as a solo contribution!
Six crowd members already...hundreds more to come... ;)

@MichaelA (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21274)
You may have to give me a few days to recover (I'm feeling somewhat ill after having the second jab) but count me in.

@MichaelA (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21274) Happy to add my voice to the Fish Chorus :)

Thanks @Sterix (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22024), whenever you’re ready and hope you feel better soon. Cheers too @kevysc (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19775) and @Neil C (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18856), very kind of you both.
We’re up to nine now, well ten including me. Should sound a laugh when it’s all in there. But come on, let’s have a few more folk to share the fun! It’s not often we have community singing on the forum :D

@Michaela,
Hoping to get on to this today or tomorrow.

Thanks @Wicked Deeds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19231) , very nice vocals indeed.
So far in the can are @Neil C (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18856), @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269), @PaulAds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20253) , @Wicked Deeds (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19231), @5 guys named Lars (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22535) and @Jack Simmons (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18691). A few more promises outstanding, but it is sounding pretty nice already, even if I say so myself ;)
Still room for a few more choir members though, so please join in if you fancy it. Thanks all.
-
Looking forward to hearing the massed choirs @MichaelA (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21274) It seems like your track is pretty popular as you have lots of comments on Soundcloud
-
Very funny @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269)! I can’t get rid of the offending post. After seven deletions/reporting it to SC it keeps coming back. So in the end I replied to her and was offered a hand job for $100. But I said I can play my own guitar, thank you very much! ;D

Should have replied again with "Well, I don't usually do that but I could do with the money"! (sorry, old Mike Reid joke). :D
-
Precisely...
Anyhow, SC porn bots aside, this Saturday 17th April is the deadline for your sing-a-long submissions. I will publish the completed track sometime over the weekend.
Thanks to everyone who has already - or will be - taking part. ;)
-
Did I miss this? Or not quite? Let me know! Eeek!
-
I’ve just sent you a pm, @adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124).
Did you also get my pm Leo, @LostBoy (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20481)? All the instructions are earlier on in this thread if you didn’t, including a link to a downloadable track.
Thanks. ;D

I’ve got a decent mix now with nine of us in there. So I will leave it until the end of today, Saturday 17th to see if I get any last minute contributions.
I will publish the whole thing sometime tomorrow. Thanks to all who’ve joined in, sounding very nice together, and a good bit of community singing there! ;D
