I was "living the dream" a bit last night

We had a gig (my covers band) in Central London last night, that was arranged ages ago and clearly with no knowledge of World Cup fixtures  >:(

However, I very kindly suggested that we play before the game for 40mins, have a 45 break at 8pm  ;) and then take it from there

This worked perfectly and I got to watch the first half in a bar - we even piped the TV sound through our PA system so the atmosphere was amazing

Then, playing the during the second half I had a perfect view of the TV so got to play with the band and watch the game at the same time  ;D

The only downer was the result but we managed to hit some uplifting party tunes and everyone soon got in the party spirit and we played on and on!

I got home as the sun was coming up

With all the chat about the football I wanna set the cat among the pigeons and ask the English posters who watched the game last night (and also the Italy game) what they REALLY think of their team and chances. Granted I come from an Irish perspective (so  take that as you will) and I have always believed there to be a mix of arrogance and delusion among the English when it comes to football. I mean even if you SAY you don't think you'll do well there is some misguided underlying belief that you WILL do well.

The crazy thing is, England expected to beat Uruguay and were the bookies favourite. When will they ever learn? I think our team are good but not great footballers led by a good but not great coach. I think England played their best football for 15 years against Italy and they still lost so that puts it all in perspective.

Don´t know but it seems to be a phenomena that let people forget music and stare like hypnotized into TV.
My band and me live in Eupen.
