Is anybody using IRs?  Any recommendations for paid or free ones?  Best way to use them?

@PeteS

I only really use IRs in my Line6 HELIX when playing live through my FRFR PowerCab and/or direct to front of house PA

I do occasionally use them when recording - but cabinet simulations are so good now I don’t really feel the need to reach for an IR

Hi @Boydie,  I've been through a lot of Line 6 gear and usually stayed away from the mic/cab sections.  For recording I'm using Bias FX and it's good, but I just felt it could be better so I loaded some different IRs and they were pretty good.  Although, I think they are the emperors new clothes given we could always change mic and cab configs.

I guess it's just loading a patch for the amp/fx setup and another for the mic/cab setup to reflect your guitar and required sound.

I use a Boss Katana 100 for actual playing (can't call it live!) and I'm tempted to just get the sound I like from that and then set up 2 tracks to take a DI into one and a mic into the other and blend the 2.

@PeteS - Yip I use them quite a bit, for Amp Sims and verbs (Convology XT uses them and produces some fantastic verbs, Waves does a similar product but the IR library is just enormous), my go to for guitars and bass is Two Notes Torpedo, this is free and the IR's of cabs are purchased, very high quality and produce some interesrting sounds. if you put a amp sim such as Amplitude or Plugin Alliance AMpeg B15N and switch off the inbuilt speaker, then pop the Two Notes after the amp sim.
