Apparently I wrote this cheesy boogiewoogie fun song about a certain goth cult spinster from the Victorian era. For those who do not know her: Lizzie Borden was accused of brutally murdering her father and stepmother with a hatchet back in 1892. The lyrics are full of dark humor references to the case (probably not everyone's cup of tea). Please let me know what you think of it, especially in regard to the lyrics since I’m not a native English speaker. Of course I'll be listening to your songs as well this week  :)

Instruments:
• Telecaster electric guitar
• Les Paul electric guitar
• Ample sounds acoustic guitar
• UVI pick guitar
• XLN Audio AD2 drums
• EZbass
• OT Sine brass

The occasional broken record effects are intentionally, to make it sound like it’s played on a vintage record player.

Lyrics
I went on a date with a girl named Lizzie Borden
The loveliest creature I had ever seen
The first time I saw her she was cutting down a tree
Forty whacks should do it, she said to me

Lizzie Borden
She’s my date

I went to the house of the spinster Lizzie Borden
Her dad wasn’t home, so I guess he was gone
She said she had a fight with her mum
But she buried the hatchet
I guess me and Lizzie, we were home alone

Lizzie Borden
She’s my date

Lizzie whispered in my ear: close your eyes
I guess I was in for a big surprise
There was a tension in the air
As if she was sharpening blades
Oh Lizzie Borden, you won’t leave me in one piece

Lizzie Borden
You wicked girl

Lizzie Borden
My final mate

Hola @Dorian

What a show!!! I enjoyed the atmosphere here, as well as the way of telling the story, surreal and full of black humor and irony, I think the voice depicts by itself the Victorian era style.

it has been a funny and great listening!

Ha ha. This is really well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's hard to put it into any particular category but, as 12 bar stuff goes, it's certainly different!! I love it. :)

@Elvis Nash
Your 2nd wife sounds like a real character. I hope she didn’t start murdering folks around you. You didn’t post your comment from the afterlife did you? ;-)

@moraamarolaloba
I indeed tried to sound somewhat like a refined gentleman from the old days. Tried to do it in a subtle way and I wasn’t sure if someone would notice the subtle intonations, but apparently you did! Thanks so much! Your comment makes my day.

@ChrisPrice
The last time I visited the forum was a year ago. From what I remember you made some great American rock styles of music. This song is far from what I normally do, so I consider it a great compliment that you like it.

Thank you all for listening!

Cheers! Dorian

@dorian Dark and witty lyrics work well with your excellent production. There is a sixties vibe and a frenetic pace that lends a tension that complements the lyrics. Also, your vocal has the right element of  menace .... nice job, Kevin

Your comment made me laugh. All this time I was convinced I played the naive victim in the story of dating Lizzie Borden. Your comment about my voice having an element of menace made me realise it was me coming up with the story in the first place, so I suppose I must have been the wicked one all along  ;D

I like all of this
There's the angst and the humour, both in perfect measure.
The story is absurd and completely relatable.
A pearl of a song here.
I'll be giving it a few listens.
Well done.
It's either this or that, then again it might be the other.

I can promise you a future of slow decline.

Don't eat the yellow snow

And there you have it.

@Dorian this is great fun! Live the lyrics and the the way you deliver the vocal with a touch of Transilvanian! Dark fun could have come straight out of Rocky Horror! Really clever and witty stuff!
Sound formed in a vacuum may seem a waste of time...

Thanks for your comments and for taking the time to listen.
Loved the “Transilvanian! Dark fun” and “Rocky horror” comment by Man made material.

It's funny how you got this song to be nostalgic and out-dated but absolutely contemporary sounding at the same time :)
What really gets me are your vocals! Great work!

Your comment truly made my week!  :)
Some years ago, someone told me I shouldn't sing, so the idea was stuck in my head that I had a terrible voice. It was only two years ago that I even dared to start singing. Thanks, this helps my confidence a lot! (I even tried some loud singing on a new song recently.) :)
