Dear creative friends....

This song is another from a batch which I recorded for my recent album, but didn't make the final track listing. There's nothing special about it. Very straightforward and written in such a way that it could easily be played live.

All that said, having just listened back to it I do quite like it. I feel it needs some real drums on it though so I have asked a friend to record some. Hopefully that will give it more energy

If I’m lost, feeling blind,
And I’ve lost my sense of time,
If I’m cold and I’m scared
And I’m afraid there’s no-ones there

Should I shout, should I scream
When I’m feeling in-between

Should I hide, from the world outside?

Do you know, how it goes
How I feel like I’m exposed
To the world and all its pain
Should I do that thing again

I don’t know, I just don’t know
Maybe I should let it go

Or let it out, Should I pull my hair and shout

And if I’m not the one you want and I am not the one you need
Then let me know and I will pack my bags but just before I leave

You should know, just before I go
And here’s the honest truth, I’ll never stop loving you

I don’t know, I just don’t know
Maybe I should let it go

Or let it out, Should I pull my hair and shout

And if I’m not the one you want and I am not the one you need
Then let me know and I will pack my bags but just before I leave

You should know, just before I go
And here’s the honest truth, I’ll never stop loving you

But if I am the one you want the one you need to be around
Then let me know before I buy a one way ticket and check out

You should know, just before I go
Here’s the brutal honest truth, I’ll never stop loving you

Hi Nick, great britpop feel to this.  I really like it but yes, it needs something more.  Drum would definitely emphasise the sections more and give it a little more light and shade, the BVs could come up and maybe add some more to build the end up.   Like it though.

@Nick Ryder  Love the intro-less start, straight in there! This is a really good pop song and a great production. Really nice, clean guitar solo too. It would have made the cut with most editors, including me :)  Well done, Kevin

Great tempo, really rolls along. No frills in a good way. Just an enjoyable song.

I too get a bit of Britpop from this. Catchy, grabby, lovely drive to it... Love those chorus harms - I'd be tempted to add to them a little or maybe bring them up a little.  I agree it would make a really good live number, have everyone boppin' along!

Great song man , I guess the new deal is something hooky every 7 seconds in a song

Great beat and infectious rhythms - and very appealing vocals - to sum it up a decidedly professional outing - trying to get rid of the static so it comes through clearly on the radio.

@Nick Ryder  3 minutes of perfect (Brit?) pop! Bang! Straight in there, no messing around, lots of hooks and dead catchy, great production and lovely harmonies, yet almost sounds live too… nice!
Sound formed in a vacuum may seem a waste of time...

I see potential in this song :)
I get some heartland rock vibes from it although the chord progression and the vocal melody have some sort of brit pop vibes. I could imagine it beeing even better with more prominent vocals in general and a louder second voice.
The drums could vary a bit more throughout the song but apart from that it's definetely too good to just be a demo :)

@Nick Ryder  . . . really like this one . . . and not just because it reminds me of one of my favourite Canadian bands . . . also because it's such a great up-tempo pop song, can never get enough of that. Live drums, real drums (with a good drummer) can always make a difference to the back feel of everything . . . but I think in your song the main attention is the chord progression and vocal melody . . . real drums would just ice the cake.

That you left this off the album tells us that your standards really are high. I like this exactly as it is. It's very memorable and it would most certainly work well live. Great stuff. :)
