Hi all, I recently bought the above interface for my new DAW and I'm very happy with it so far, but. I've never used midi instruments and there are loads on my software that I could use, but I don't think I can use midi into this interface. Is there a way of connecting midi without discarding what I've got and buying something new?  :P
Cheers

Yes

Some midi instruments/controllers actually already come with USB ports so check that out first

Alternatively you can get a MIDI to USB interface really cheap

Something like this would do it: http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_midi_usb_1x1.htm

Hi Jamie

The Korg Kronos will pretty much do anything you want it to!

It looks like my initial comment was spot on - the Kronos will connect to your PC via USB and act as a MIDI controller so you don't need a separate MIDI interface

I would suggest grabbing the drivers and software from the Korg website and hook it all up

Then you should be able to select the Kronos as a MIDI input device in your DAW and away you go

Cheers Boydie, thanks for that . Ps I recollect you were looking at basses for your studio, but I wasn't paying attention to the outcome, what did you get? I bought a fender jazz bass ( not the American one) for about £400 or so and it compares very favourably with our bassists American jazz. Perfect for my occasional use!

I went for exactly the same  ;D

A Mexican Standard Fender Jazz Bass

It is REALLY good

The only thing I am considering is replacing the pickups for some noiseless ones as it is a touch noisy when recording - but it does kinda add to the charm

Hey guys,

That's weird. I just bought an electric bass for recording as well. I went for a Squier Fender Vintage Modified Jazz bass 70s. I took a risk on a used one on ebay and I've kind have fallen in love with it. A good bass has a certain mesmeric quality. The proper bass player in the band has pronounced it to be perfectly set up and I could tell he had that covetous look in his eye! Can't go wrong for £200. Not a mark on it and It sounds wonderful to these ears. I love ebay !

Hi guys, yes Boydie there is a bit of noise from the pickups but as you say it is more authentic, and Allan, a bass player I know suggested a squier jazz to me but I didn't get round to trying one, it sounds like we're all happy! I like playing bass (sometimes);-)

Just had to buy one of the 2i2's as my studio pc died last week.

Can't even get into bios (it's THAT dead).

Got this because of the direct monitoring and small but efficient size as I may take it between studios with my studio laptop.

Any positive comments on this bit of kit would be good as I haven't had chance to record with it yet.

Pooters..... they really are a pain in the arse...

Hey Alan

I've not had one myself but wouldn't hesitate getting one as I have heard nothing but good things about them

Good to know Paul,

It seems to be a good bit of kit.
