I have recently posted a song which was critiqued as ok but a bit too long..on listening back I happen to agree and will make the song shorter, am I allowed to replace the song in my thread and change the title of the thread to indicate that it's a shorter version?....or do I have to wait 2 weeks again? in which case I would not put the shorter version up because i wish to put a different song up..seems a pity not to be able to do this....

any advice out there?

Hey Kevin.   I'm not an administrator, but I'm sure you're totally okay just modifying your post with the upgraded new version.  I (and others) do it all the time. 

BTW  --  Even if you were to somehow violate a rule unintentionally, no one here comes down hard on you for honest mistakes.  Just use common sense and common courtesy, and if you DO end up on the wrong side of a "rule" all that will happen is that the admins will politely point out the rule, and expect you to know it from then on.
