You seem to be on an incredibly productive streak at the moment @moraamarolaloba Yeah, the pulsing synth rhythm is incredible hypnotic and I love the "chatter" in the background and the freaky clock. Every one of your songs takes us on an incredible musical journey Mora  :)

Hi @Paul V First of all, no need to apologise  :) I really enjoyed the "Song a day" from you and it was fascinating to observe how each song developed along the way. It gives a great insight into you as a writer. Labels eh ? They should be torn up and thrown away. It's a bit like to the genre stuff in music where you seem to be expected to be pigeon holed into genre so that some algorithm can pump you some ads of some music that it "Thinks you like"

This is a rather fabulous piece of music. Great sentiments in the lyrics. I always love your subtle use of of strings and the accordion works incredibly well. Always super melody and well thought out and arranged. Bravo Paul  :)

hello @moraamarolaloba

Striking pulsating synth bass and wonderfully clear vocals.  Lovely, sparse production where your voice is allowed to breathe amongst elements of the soundscape.  Good use of instrumentation which is both inviting and challenging.  There is much to like here.  Well done

Paul

Thank you so much!!! @Paul V

First of all a little background...
I've dipped in and out of this group many times before but I've struggled with my place in all this and have lost count of the number of times I've thrown in the towel ...only to pick it up again.

A bit older now and more accepting of the fact I'm a hobby songwriter and I write these songs for fun now and dreams of any recognition beyond that are well and truly put to bed.

I am fairly prolific on the songwriting front - I started back in 2018 under the illusion of being a "band" but it was just me and a bass guitar and some effects and I released three EPs using this bass only set up... then I started dablling in more conventional electric guitar and released an EP paying tribute to my Grunge influnced days, followed by another album of bits and pieces that further developed my guitar playing.

I then hit a big lull and took down all my music as I was convinced I was done with it.. only to re-release it under my own name as a songwriter.

Now I find myself in some sort of punky / folky / trad scots territory which I will be honest I never saw coming.. which brings me to my latest song.. The Deal... it was influenced by the film highlander (and maybe slightly by tenacious D / Tribute  ;D)

and lyrics below

From the sleep of the dead
I was roused from my bed
and a pistol was thrust in my hand

We do or we die
was the rallying cry
my brothers and I made our stand

When the call to advance
filtered out through the ranks
well I shook from my head to my toes

Would I ever return
to the place that I yearn
from this field where the wild heather grows

Well we fought and we bled
keeping score with the dead
and with little remorse I’ll confess

I stared down my foe
but my blade was too slow
and his spear found its mark on my chest

I remember that day
as I faded away
and the light left my eyes as they closed

then the world turned to black
I was dead on my back
in a field where the wild heather grows

Well the devil he rose
from his throne made of bones
and he said there’s a road you can take

but it carries a toll
and the price is your soul
if a deals what you are willing to make

so my thoughts turned to home
and the life that I’d know
and I begged for forgiveness and chose

Then I opened my eyes
staring up at the sky
in a field where the wild heather grows

Precious few from that day
made it back from the fray
and returned to the home that we knew

My family they wept
I was bound by my debt
to the devil and payment was due

so they pushed and they jeered
driven on by the fear
I was exiled in nought but my clothes

though my body survived
sure a part of me died
in that field where the wild heather grows

Hola @Paul V

Beautiful and calm backing for such a raw but poetic lyrics... I liked it a lot, I adore that accordion that suddenly appears... The lyrics? a reality for all of us that we try to ignore, it seems.
Labels? It's a word I hate hahaha but apparently the pack needs signs to show them a path... generally all current paths lead to personal destruction

Sorry for joking, I'm that unconscious or joking, whichever you prefer.
It has been a very pleasant listen, a very soft sound.

Have a ice day @Paul V

WOw. It's the first song of my morning and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! totally unique, unexpected, personal, with a great, clean, defined sound, and that special way of delivering the melody, slowly, supporting each word. I loved it, you should not be afraid of having your work accepted, I think it is excellent!!  @Dorian
Good week!
