What's the point in being a nice person
If it isn't even about that
They say it's what's on the inside that counts
But no one seems to buy all that crap

Don't tell me I'm not ugly
We both know it's not true
You don't even feel bad
You're just glad that it's not you

And everybody says
'we are all beautiful
In our own way'
'don't put yourself down
You'll find someone someday'
Well they can say what they want
Cause we all know that's a lie
We all know that's a lie

Don't pretend that you know how this feels
Because you don't
You tell everybody that you're ugly
To get the sympathy vote

You just want the attention
But you don't get it
There are the people like me
Who are never gonna get picked

And everybody says
'we are all beautiful
In our own way'
'don't put yourself down
You'll find someone someday'
Well they can say what they want
Cause we all know that's a lie
We all know that's a lie

When you look at me
Can you honestly say
That everybody's beautiful
And I'll end up okay

Cause everybody says
'we are all beautiful
In our own way'
'don't put yourself down
You'll find someone someday'
Well they can say what they want
Cause we all know that's a lie
We all know that's a lie

Well just look at me
I'm not beautiful in any kind of way
I'm never gonna find anyone
No matter what you say
So shove your quotes up you arse
Cause we all know it's a lie
It's all a lie

Firstly, hats off for tackling a difficult and painful subject. I also think you took it on pretty fearlessly - which is hard.
However, you or your character are just telling us a situation in words - there's nothing there to inspire empathy ... to make us feel the pain.
Rather than try to explain that - look how Morrissey takes on the same thing and how he shows the pain:

How Soon Is Now (The Smiths)

I am the son
and the heir
of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and the heir
of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
how can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am human and I need to be loved
just like everybody else does

There's a club if you'd like to go
you could meet somebody who really loves you
so you go, and you stand on your own
and you leave on your own
and you go home, and you cry
and you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen "now"
well, when exactly do you mean?
see I've already waited too long
and all my hope is gone

Youth & enthusiasm are no match for age and treachery.
