I dunno if many on here are up for this or if it's been done before but this is something quite fun and easy that I came cross on a Celtic forum (of all places!) quite a while back. It gives an insight into just how eclectic peoples tastes in music really are, especially if like me you tend to like 'songs' rather than artists.

Basically you go to your I-pod, MP3 player, Windows media or whatever stick it on shuffle, take note of the first 5 songs and artists you come across on shuffle and post them (and please resist the urge to lieif a guilty pleasure like Jedward comes up!).

I've just done it and I got:

In the ghetto - Elvis
Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
Somebody to love - Queen
Call me maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen
Guns of Brixton - The Clash

Pretty random bunch of songs that aren't really similar at all but hey I guess that's what this whole thing is about!

Jess - I can confirm that Born to die and Hot n Cold and Poker Face are also on my MP3 player. The last 2 have led to my mates casting aspersions about my sexuality!!!! :(

MOSP - I have not heard any of those songs. I might actually check them out. One of the great things about this is the diverse range of songs and artists and it gives you a chance to come across new songs and artists you've never listened to before. I guess it broadens the musical horizons in a light hearted way :)

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Deep Purple - Burn
The Rolling Stones - Carol
The Clash - Lost In The Supermarket
The Jam - Away From The Numbers

Very rock based! Not a true reflection of my iPod however, which consists of more folk and blues.
Surprised no Dylan came up, as he takes up most of my iPod!

Indirectly, yes. I'm not familiar with their original music, but I'm a huge fan of the Queen of Denmark album by John Grant, for which they were his band.

I don't have an ipod, so I can't play this game.... :p

Sure ya can... just do it on your phone, MP3 player, Windows media etc... I would say CD player but that would kinda defeat the purpose ;)

This is a fun game, I remember a thing that went around facebook ages ago where you would create the soundtrack to your life. it gave you a list of moments and you shuffled through the itunes/ipod/whatever to fill them.

My first 5 shuffles:
Joe Bonamassa Lonesome Road Blues (Live from the Royal Albert Hall)
Imagine Dragons Radioactive
Joe Bonamassa Palm trees, helicopters and gasoline
Our Lady Peace Make to heal
Neil Zaza Celestine

Most people seem to dig this and even though it's slipped down the pecking order I thought 'f@?k it I'm going to bump this again!'.

This time I got

Men at Work - Land down under (what a tune!Who gets the lyric 'veggimite sandwich into a hit song?)
Tony Orlando - Knock three times
Lilly Allen - The Fear
Florence and the machine - Shake it off
Maroon 5 - Misery

Hmmm... I used to think I'd a pretty decent taste in music now I'm not so sure!!!!! ;)

Abba, Dancing Queen
In a poll, this was one of the most misheard songs of all time, people genuinely thought the words were:
See that girl
Hear her scream
Kicking the dancing queen
