Hello everyone,
I'm now able to provide more details. I didn't want to initially say too much until I'd had further confirmation. Ok, my song won't be featured on the album of a mega-star like Rod Stewart or one of today's hugely successful boy bands. However, I believe this is a good starting point and I am honoured that my song has been chosen.
I've never made a secret of the fact that I love the writing of Paddy McAloon. People say you shouldn't get too close to the writers who have influenced your writing style but I don't mind. Unfortunately, new releases from Paddy are few and far between. Several months ago, I was searching the net to find news of possible releases and I stumbled upon a site called 'The Prefab Sprout Project'
The Project involves writing and recording a CD of 12 songs in the style of Prefab Sprout and it will mark the band's 35th anniversary. Neil Conti an English drummer and producer who was also Prefab Sprout's drummer will play drums on all the selected tracks. He has played with several big name artists, including: David Bowie, Cher and Annie Lennox. CD's will be sent to all members of Prefab Sprout, their producer Thomas Dolby and their record label Kitchenware Records. The album artwork has been designed by the same artist who designed the artwork for Prefab Sprout albums: 'Swoon' and 'Steve McQueen'. The album will be recorded by Scott McPherson and and Andrea Perry. Their details are available at
www.theprefabsproutproject.com The Project will be released in both CD and digital download format.
I wrote my song back in 1993 and recently recorded it again about a year ago. I don't often promote my songs in an attempt to develop my writing career and thought this one would be better submitted for this project, rather than sit idle on my desktop.
So, whilst it's not massive news, it is very welcome and you never know, my song might attract the attention of someone influential! Most of all, I'm honoured to be a featured writer on this album and I look forward to hearing my song professionally produced and released (featuring the fantastic drummer, Neil Conti) in the fulness of time!
If anyone is interested in my demo, I'll update this post later on with a link to the song.
Thanks
