Conspiracy Song Competition

Since my kidnap by, and subsequent escape from suspected Russian agents  :D due to my palindrome song 'Palendromium' http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/song-reviews/palendromium-(palendromic-song-feat-backmasking)/ accidentally containing classified government information ;) Dutchbeat had another great idea, lets open up the backmasking comp to include any song or video to include/explain a wildly ridiculous conspiracy theory. Make up your theory, write a song to fit, with hidden messages, backmasking, whatever you like. Try these ideas if you like...

BACKMASKING

The art of backmasking is simply hiding messages within songs. These messages can only be deciphered when the track is played backwards. The Beatles pioneered this on tracks such as Rain, Free as a bird and Revolution 9. Here is a list of others who've had a go... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_backmasked_messages

Some are deliberate and clever, some are just  coincidental conspiracy rubbish, barking on about Satan and the like...

Here is a genuine one by Pink Floyd [ Invalid YouTube link ]
I RECKON WE CAN DO BETTER!!!

Most DAW's will have a reverse function of some sort for you to play with..

Acrostic writing (test your songwriting skills)

Come up with a phrase, write it downwards on a page, then write your song lyrics using each letter of the phrase as the first letter of each line. Like this example.. (the song title reads downwards)

(This'll have the conspiracy theorists more excited than a labrador in a bonio factory :D )

Stop the clock now

Stop the clock now
Take just a minute
Open your mind
Pause...

Time is a marching
Hurrying by
Endless relentless it soars

Could I just rest
Lessen this test
Open my mind
Chill out

Kick off my shoes
Nestle down warm
Openly manage
Without...

These are just a couple of ideas, use your imagination, bamboozle us! :o

There are no real strict rules, just try to hide a message in your song, one way or t'other.

This will be a nice, long, slow burner of a comp, you'll have ALL winter to do it :)
The closing date will be Saturday 30th March 2013,

There really is no excuse to avoid this one haha.. :D :D :D

After the usual voting procedure, the winner will receive a.... conspiracy story featuring our forum members names, with you as the main hero/heroine character, written by me, all based on your song.
(it might be rubbish :D)

If you're up for it, post a backwards reply here so we know who's playing..

Hmm.. not much interest.. ???

If you have a go, it'll be a great 'secret track' to add to your album  :D

Check out my example effort here- http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/song-reviews/palendromium-(palendromic-song-feat-backmasking)/

You can do this with any song, even one you've already recorded. Just flip it over and record some backing vocals 'to' the reversed version. Then flip the whole lot back and hey presto, a weird, fun, psychedelic version of your song, complete with a backmasked secret message.

Alternatively I'm up for a collaboration if anyone wants to...

Who's playing then?  ;D

Well looks like someone can't wait to get started ;)

I'm sure more folks are going to join in - still plenty of time left.

I'd be up for a collab... any specific ideas?

Can't promess anything yet. Esp. the next 6 weeks or so, I'll be preoccupied with the last deadlines of the semester and then exams. Next semester I've got my Master's paper and my internship, so I'll have to see how that goes.
But this is a cool idea and I'll see if I can come up with something.
No idea how though  :p

Hi hab,
Wouldn't mind givin' this a go. Did you say you were up for a collab? I could do with some help on lyrics - or if you wanted to do the whole song, I'd be up for doing a bit of an arrangement. Let me know what you think.
Cheers

Hey Sevla,

I'm doing a collab with Michael on a whole song basis but I'm more than happy to have a go at some lyrics, I really enjoy the writing side of it so feel free to PM me with any ideas you've got about the song subject etc.. :)

It just so happens that my newest song is about a conspiracy theory! I hope to have it recorded early in the year, so if it's finished in time, I'll upload it to this comp :D

That's cool Tina, great to have you on board :)

I'm working with Michael on a really challenging collab effort plus I also plan to re-record Palindromium (hopefully with a video). I don't think either will be ready imminently..  :-\

I'm not sure how many are playing actually.. ???

The more the merrier  ;D

I have a song that I mentioned to Habitat, just want to check if it qualifies??

If it does I am mixing and mastering at the moment so will be the next song, or the one after next song I post...

-It has backward vocals.

-The theme of the song is kinda about conspiracies....its about the way Astrology still has an impact on some people even in these modern, learned times (I may upset some people who follow their starsigns, ho hum!)

-The "Masking" element doubles....as I used it to cover up a drum sound that I wasn't 100% with when played naked ;)

-It isn't very hidden though, it bookends the song, cos it sounds cool, innit 8)

Hab, let me know if I should enter it  ;D
