Hairless in Jim Reposehttps://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/player.cfm?type=single&songid=13735178&q=hi&newref=1Hairless Jim and One-Eyed Mick fell in love over a charcoal stick
One hot night in the sketching class
Said Mick, “D’you mind if I come near? I can’t see what I want from here.”
Said Jim, “Do you need a looking glass?”
Love amongst the charcoal, the pastels and the paint
Two minute poses, made without complaint
“Hold it there! Please don’t move. That’s the best one yet.
“If I can get a likeness, I’ll post it on the net.”
With just one eye, and classroom light, Mick struggled to get perspective right
And all his lines were drawn with a shaking hand
What was thick looked kind of thin, his straights were bent and his outs went in
Yet what was modest turned out very grand.
Love amongst the charcoal, the pastels and the paint
Two minute poses, made without complaint
“Hold it there! Please don’t move. Yes, that’s the one.
“If I can get a likeness, I’ll show it to my mum.”
When the time came to cast an eye over the finished work, Jim went shy
He wondered just how Mick had captured him
But Jim did blush in sheer delight, Mick had got the angles right
He’d never so looked so hard and yet so trim
Love amongst the charcoal, the pastels and the paint
Two minute poses, made without complaint
“Hold it there! Please don’t move. I can’t believe my eyes.
“If I can get a likeness, I’ll tattoo it on my thigh.”
And so love came to Jim and Mick, as surprising as a magic trick
And as a beautiful as a Van Gogh rose
Michelangelo and Rafael could not have conjured such a spell
As Mick’s did with his “Hairless Jim in Repose”
Love amongst the charcoal, the pastels and the paint
Two minute poses, made without complaint
“Hold it there! Please don’t move. That’s the best one yet.
“If I can get a likeness, I’ll post it on the net.”
