Title: Next sing competition??
Post by: Neil C on September 03, 2013, 10:02:27 PM
Hi,
After what I believe was a very successful and fun Summer comp, whats the appetite, suggestions and timing for the next one, if indeed people want to do one?
There was suggestion about Blues or doing another blueprint or variation therof, or just pick another random but broad subject like weather?  Or indeed go straight to an Xmas one? Enabling collabs seemed to be a good idea we should repeat.
What do you all think?
:)

Depressing songs - i'd be in my element! :)

I like the idea of blues/bluesy sounding songs - not something I've done - so an extra challenge.
Or perhaps something for Hallowe'en?

Collabs? Phew - might swerve that one :)

Cheers,

Digger

Maybe we could have a comp called 'the same, but different' where we try to write a song that's really similar to another song, but different enough to not get sued  :D  ;)

On a serious note, a new comp does need to be started, and the collab thing was great for getting people chatting. I think I'd rather step back from running the next one though.

If you choose blueprint I'll enter it though, but not the blues, its just not my bag, baby :)

...I've got a song called 'bless our souls'?  ;D ;D ;D (JOKE)

I'd run a competition! Or I'd co-run if you don't trust me enough to do it solo ;D
I mean, sure you've got to decide what the theme is first (I don't know anything about blues, although I am currently undergoing lessons from diademgrove, so you never know), but if no one else wants the job...

How about a song inspired by a certain decade? 80s? Leaves itself open to all manner of sins! :)

How about the 20s for us old people.

Just in case you thought all blues singers were male, here's some women to extend your education:

Something a bit more modern, but not that much

Finally somebody you should really listen to. One of the greatest white female singers of all time.

I trust your doing your homework. I've done mine. I'm a tiger, have been since I was born, you're going to hear me roar. Hull City AFC.

I liked that.

Remember to listen to all types of music with an open mind, you may be pleasantly surprised afterwards.

Over the years I have added some surprising choices to my record collection. Roar is a very good pop song, I played it four times in a row. Lady Ga Ga may be next.

I'll tell you what to do Neil,

Go and check the dog kennel, your dog is probably dead.
You should have already noticed by now that your wife has left you, the tell tale sign will be all the missing furniture and valuables.
Don't bother going into work, your boss has probably fired you.
And that banging noise you can hear??  That's most likely Jess banging on your door.

Yep, you're in for one hell of a day.

Allan.
